Sighing as we entered the room, I said to Katie who stood before me while her brother jumped on the bed, “I know, baby, and I want that for you too but the pack doesn’t have warriors your age and you can’t train with adults. You are just six.” Before Katie could say another word, Raiden stepped into the room and said, “What if Daddy makes it happen?” Katie’s attention shifted immediately, “Daddy!” She exclaimed and ran into Raiden’s arms. “My darling girl.” Raiden cooed sweetly into Katie’s hair before saying, “Your sword is almost ready and I have a personal trainer for you. Other kids aren't exactly interested in training now but when they see you, they will want to have fun like you.”

"Emma has been found. She’s given birth to three pups." Katie’s tears slowed, and she looked up, surprised. A small, sad smile crossed her face. "I’m happy for her, Luna. Truly, I am." Luna Essa turned fully, eyeing her with suspicion. "Happy? Why would you be happy for Emma?" Katie wiped her tears with the back of her hand, her voice suddenly calm, almost eerie. "Because, Luna... in the first place, I never truly wanted Gregory. I was just jealous. I was wrong, and you were right. I deserve to face the consequences of my actions."

“Wait, how do we know they didn’t turn into wolves? Shift. How do we know they haven’t shifted?” “Their wolves have an advantage to use their senses but stay in human form right now.” Les tugs at her braided ponytail. “They can open doors, push elevator buttons, call for help, things like that.” “Zara is freaking out because her pup is gone. Katie is going to protect Zara to give her a chance to find her baby.” I put my ear to the door. “Katie will make sure danger is out of the way.”

But thankfully, he had learned to keep it quiet. Yet, everyday, I’m reminded that he is even more powerful than Aiden and the other Hybrids. “Mum!” He was a bit more urgent than before. “Katie is about to have her pup.” Crashing in through the bathroom door, I find her half conscious and leaning against the toilet, a trail of blood along the floor. “Get Leighton.” I call out to Cayden “Already on it.” By the time Leighton gets here, I’m already holding his pup. Katie was still out of it a little bit. Overwhelmed by the pain, Cayden tells me.

Sierra's POV A year went by. Then two. Funny how time works. When you're scared, every minute lasts forever. When you're happy, the years just fly. Katie was nine now. She lost more teeth and grew taller and started rolling her eyes at us like a tiny teenager. She still loved horses, but now it was also makeup and boy bands and arguing about bedtime. "She's getting opinions," Louis said one night, watching her stomp upstairs after a fight about homework. "Loud ones."

The whistle blows, ending the match, I look down at him. “Next time, don’t look down on someone just because of their appearance." I turn to see everyone looking at me with wide, shocked eyes. “What?” “Holy shit babes,” Cathy shouts, tackling me in a hug, “that was awesome.” Draven’s POV Holy crap. That's the only thing I can say. How had Katie become so strong? I mean this was Katie we were talking about. Weak, human katie. Yet, she took down one of the biggest guys in A Class like it was nothing.

‘I promise not to make things worse for her,’ I send back through the link and Kristof gives me a slight nod and lets me further into the room. I take a seat on the twin bed across from his mate and I catch her glance at me out of the corner of her eyes before more tears rush down her cheeks. “I am Alpha Andrew Black from the Red River Pack, and I am sure you have already had a chance to speak with your mate Kristof,” I try to say as kindly as possible. “Can I ask your name?” The girl tightens her arms around her legs and still refuses to meet my gaze. “Katie,” she mumbles into her knees.

I don’t remember seeing him anywhere in the pack. “I am Corey, the Beta of Fangs Clan Pack. I came to ask you some questions, relating to our Alpha. Is that okay with you?” he asked. I just stared at him limply, unsure of what to say. Kate nudged me know to answer, bringing me back to reality. From the corner of my eye, I could see Patricia, Killian’s mum. She was seated on one of the waiting chairs. She was crying so much, with some pack members comforting her.

“Good to meet you, Timothy. Sarah’s told me a little about you. But let’s not leave your mother standing all on her own?” All three of us turn at that, Katie skipping lightly down the steps to have her turn at pulling me in for a hug. I wrap my arms around her and sag into her arms. It’s good to be home. “I mustn’t monopolise you,” I tell her, letting my arms fall and turning within her embrace. “Katie, this is Aiden. Aiden, this is my mother Katie.” I wonder what he sees when he looks at her; I’m sensing a good deal of surprise from him. Trying to imagine Katie through his eyes, I suppose there is a reason to be startled. She doesn’t look like someone’s mother. Her waist-length straight hai

I pull her into the packhouse kitchen and give her a glass of water before launching into my interrogation. "What the hell? You're second chance mates?" I ask and she nods, still looking a little shell shocked. "Your first mate must have been killed or something." I muse but Katie shakes her head, making me look at her curiously. "What do you mean, Katie?" I ask her and she takes a deep breath before sighing. "I found my mate. When I left the pack right after I turned nineteen. I found him in another pack." She says and I wait for her to go on, when she doesn't I prompt her.
