What could I possibly lose when all was robbed already? I could this. No I could not. Yes I could. No! No! No! A silent battle in my head that could last forever if only I got all the time in the world. I haven't seen what happened but Marshall stood at my front, rather too close for my liking. That was when the rest of the pack stepped in to raise me. They all had warnings for me—about everything. While my packmates had warnings from one set of parents, I had them from twenty. So I never forgot. Those warnings still echo in my ears even now. But I’m about to ignore them all—ignore the possibility I could become stuck mid-shift forever, or die from the shock of it. Marshall needs me. If there was ever a time to be brave, it’s now. I reach for my terrified wolf again. This time, with Marshall here, she’s less afraid and embraces the shift a little less unwillingly.

“You can come out now. You are safe.” The woman was only met with silence as Marshall and Tiger approached the kids. Tiger stepped on a branch that broke and the kids took off running not noticing that they were not only running from Philly and Meryl, but running right back toward Josiah. “Damn it!” Philly said, as they took off back after the wolves.

I didn't dare take a step. If I was trusted enough to stay there, then that's exactly what I was going to do. Marshall quickly stepped back out of pure fear as Master made his way over to the large wall filled with many different colored files. "What are you doing?," Doctor Marshall asked nervously. It was obvious that he wasn't going to do anything to stop Master from doing what he wanted.
