The Alpha of Wolf Creek
A swipe of his claws caught Miles off guard, tearing a gash over his face, narrowly missing his eye.
Miles shook his head briefly, sending drops of blood flying. The beast grinned at him in a show of canines. Low rumbling sounds sounded from the remaining pumas, spurring their leader on. They circled us again, waiting for an opening to attack. We had to move fast.
‘Get him, Miles! He dared to touch our mate!’ I didn’t need to encourage him. The rage flowing through us was enough inspiration. Miles went in low, going for the underbelly of the beast, just as the puma lifted on its haunches to attack.
