This was her first step to attaining freedom, and she was ready. Then she approached the small booth with a not so bright light at her left-hand side. This was right before the entrance of the loading dock, where payments were made. An officer in charge of payment and receipt for passage sat inside.

Claire's POV The taxi pulled up to Caesar's Palace and I reached into my purse for my wallet. "It has been paid for," the driver said quietly. I stared at him. "What did you just say?" "The payment for the ride has been taken care of by an anonymous person. Bye, have a nice day!" He drove off before I could ask another question. I stood on the sidewalk trying to process what happened. Who else would pay for my ride except David? He was trying to manipulate me again and I wasn't going to let it work.
