He lost his grip and I managed to make to make the run for it, but I didn't make it that far, he caught me again, his arm snaking around my waist, and he dragged me behind a tree as the mob swallowed my mother. I cried helplessly as screams of agony erupted from her throat, watching her burn to death as the flames engulfed her. Our eyes met once before she hit the ground, her silence swallowing the forest whole. My body limped in Sam's arms as all the air escaped from my lungs, and I replayed Lincoln's words in my head – remember what happens to people who play with fire? They get burned.

The apprentices nearby shivered. Sam’s eyes widened, but then something inside him seemed to snap completely. He screamed like a mad man as the driver walked toward him. “Hit me! Break my legs! Kill me if you want!” His voice cracked. “I will never make clothes for you again! I’m done! Do you hear me?! I am done!” The driver raised his leg, preparing to stomp down but suddenly one of Madam Cherry’s apprentices screamed as his body flew sideways and crashed onto the floor after being punched by one of Jerry’s men.

I didn't have to wait for long though because I felt Penny hugging me from behind, her short frame restricting her from kissing me on the cheeks. “Where were you?” She asked, letting me go to come in front of me. “I had an assignment.” “What assignment?” Penny didn't buy my excuse at all. “Leave her alone Penny.” Said Sam, giving me a small smile. Penny and Sam are different in every thing that matters, but they are really close. Sam understands when I don't want to talk and she always saves me from Penny. Sam has this ability to read people and it's with her that I survived Penny's long lasting questions till now.

He smirked, his eyes glinting as he returned to more inane thoughts. "Gosh! Where is the damn ball of flames? And where is that headless, one eyed guy with the knife?" He flung his arm, sneering, towards his soldiers. Who knows what was running through his mind right now, I'd be tempted to knock it out of him, or chop his head off, if I could.
