The Broken Luna
I fished the keys out of my pocket, and with a satisfying click, the door unlocked.
The cabin smelled of pine and wood, with a faint hint of cedar. It was a small space with a living room, a kitchenette, and a staircase that led to two bedrooms. The walls were adorned with nature-themed paintings and the furniture was made of sturdy, weathered wood.
An awkward tension settled on us. Lucia and her friend huddled together and Elias tried to break the ice.
"Anybody hungry?"
No one responded.
"We need to talk," I said to Lucia. Without arguing, she obeyed and we headed to the bedroom.
