Then: “...I don’t know. I’ve never had to. I’ve always paid. That’s how I show I care.” “That’s how you show you’re in control,” Priya said. “Different thing.” Kael hung up. At the shop, Adia was pulling shots too hard. Breaking cups. Her mom took one look at her and said, “Go home. Talk to him.” “I’m not going back until he apologizes,” Adia said. “He will,” her mom said. “But not if you’re not there to hear it.” *THE COMEBACK* Kael was on the floor when Adia got home.

Why won't she say it for me? Charlotte was in a princess dress, and Mama had a soft smile on her face I'd never seen before. Mommy, is there no room for me in this house? Then the door flew open.

I ask as she hands it to me with my favorite international blend? "Alright, keep your secrets to yourself. But remember, you can't keep secrets from your mother. I know everything." My mother thinks she is like Santa. She sees me when I am awake and knows my thoughts. Like an audience that I don't want, invading my privacy. Twenty minutes later, Percy shows up, and my mother has disappeared into her soap operas. The romances on those shows make me wonder if people really are as messed up as all of that. I toss my duffle bag into the trunk of Percy's car. He didn't bother cleaning his car before this trip. What an asshole. The trash in his car smells like the rejects of a baseball stadium gam

The whole "but we're family" routine didn't work on me, but Mom wasn't one to quit. Soon enough, she switched tactics. This time, she turned her focus to Rodney. One evening, I got a call from an unknown number. "Sabrina, where are you? Mom froze my card. I can't go to my prep course anymore." The moment I heard his voice, I snapped back, "I told you before that your problems have nothing to do with me."

I didn't want to be an audience to their tear-jerking mother-daughter bond. "I don't—" Before I could finish, Mom’s voice blasted through the phone. "Serena, if Tara hadn’t insisted that a family should stay whole, do you really think I’d want a troublemaker like you back? "You’ve always been so stubborn. If it weren’t for you, your brother…Look come by or not, I don’t care either way.” Then she hung up. I stared at the black screen, my hand tightening around my medical report. I suddenly felt grateful for my illness.

Hope welled up inside my heart, and I accepted the call. “Yes, Ebony! Do you have any good news to give me? Have you found out about my mother?” I waited for her reply, but she hesitated a little. “Not much, Felixe. I haven’t found a single clue about your mate. I questioned everyone I could think of about your mom. None of them knew much, except she was from Mount Olympus, Greece. After the fire, a strange wolf who resembled your mom had been to our village to ask around for her. He informed them he was from Mount Olympus, Greece, which was your mom’s birthplace, too.”

I heard my mother's sweet voice. "Mom... She... She left me, mom..." My voice started to shake. "Mom... I messed up... So bad... Now-" I didn't finish my sentence when I heard my mother. "HECATE WHAT HAPPENED???!! WHERE ARE YOU??!!" I heard my mother panic. "I'm... Here a-at my... House... Hestia... Le-left me, mom..." I broke down clutching Hestia's rings against my chest. Hestia

Since chicken intestine is my favorite, I ordered a lot of that and only a little barbeque. "Yes, the woman's face is familiar. She looks like Damon's mom." Jasper scowled. "Looks like Damon's mom? Why would granny have a photo of his mother?" For a second, we were dumbfounded. I immediately got out my phone and looked for Damon's I*******m account, but I couldn't find anything. I even tried to find a picture of Damon's mother, but since he isn't as active on social media as his mother, I couldn't find anything.

"Did something happen at school dear? You look really lethargic?” Mom touched my hand with a worried look, making me realize that my worries were so obvious. Ah, should I dig deeper into Uncle Jackson's information from Mama? But.. I'm afraid that Mom's trauma will come back when she remembers about Uncle Jackson. After all, the man had almost abused my mother and made she feels like she is the most helpless human in the world.

During a holiday, when I told my mother that my boyfriend would be coming to my house, her expression darkened. Tears welled up in her eyes as she touched my face and said in a hoarse voice, “Oh my God... Thank God you’re still alive. “Do you remember what day this is? This time, I’m not letting you die.” She acted as if she were possessed and screamed at me hysterically, “He’s a serial killer! We’ll all die if he comes today. Last time around, I was the only one left!” I believed her. I broke up with him and called the police to have him arrested. I let out a sigh of relief as I watched him get taken away, and my mother revealed a triumphant smile. She then said calmly, “That’s that.
