My stomach turned with disgust at the man in front of me and how his desperation had made him lose every single shred of dignity in the face of death. He’d been happy to hunt down Layla, hurt her and kill her.
But now that the tables were reversed and he was prey, he couldn’t take it.
My expression must have mirrored my thoughts because Alex’s eyes suddenly widened and he backtracked.
