This was a commissioned piece from a very dear artist friend by the name of Rydi on DeviantART also known as lucia-garcia on ArtCorgi. We've known each other for a long time now, and I was super happy when she agreed to make a book cover for me, so if you like her style, feel free to check her out.

### The Hall of the Failed Versions Aris led me out of the hospital room and into a long, dimly lit corridor. The walls were lined with glass tanks, each one filled with a shimmering, viscous fluid. I stopped in front of one, and my stomach turned. Inside the tank was a girl. She looked exactly like me, but her skin was a translucent blue, her hair floating like seaweed. A label on the base of the tank read: **[VERSION 0.4 - THE SIREN]**.

The sky was a flat, dull grey, like a screen that had been turned off but was still glowing with static. "Kaima?" I spun around. Standing in the middle of a street made of torn-up book pages was a man. He looked like Rowan, but his face was half-finished. One of his eyes was a beautiful, hazel spark of life. The other was just a rough pencil sketch—an empty circle with a dot in the middle. "Rowan?" I whispered, my heart breaking at the sight of him. "I'm not your Rowan," the man said. His voice sounded like it was being played on a broken record player. "I’m **Draft Four**. I was the version of him that was 'Too Angry.' They deleted me in the first week of production."

And there was this artist I had been viewing his works in the media. He was amazing. Asian portrait artist Kimura Hakira. He had this odd way of tugging at heartstrings with his portraits. I scrolled through his site, viewing the art works he had uploaded when I came across a poster. "No way," I whispered, clicking on the poster. "No freaking way!"

"Then it's my turn, Hope Balder, brother of the legend Elizabeth, Avatar of rank E, but evaluated with a potential of rank D, I am a hero and probably the strongest in physical power here. With me, victory is assured!" He looked proudly at his audience, most looking annoyed. "What a good talker... I am Cid, but for you all it's Barron, I don't have time to say anything about me or my power, whatever will come to me, I'll crush it." They looked at him while sighing, Eryl amused. "I think it's good like this. Then it's only left you, Sir Carper." "... I know, I am Anesidora, Dora for 4 people but Mister Carper for the others, E-Rank Avatar... Shaman."

" I paint vigorously as the song plays. I'm desperately trying to get the image out of my mind onto the canvas. My brush travels across his chiseled jawline. My colors hold his textured blonde color in a lock of hair that hung in his face while the rest was pulled back. My shadows play with the rippled muscles under his shirt. I let the music inspire me as I paint the pale blue eyes staring at me. His tanned skin looks almost like I could reach in and feel it. The image in my mind comes alive in the painting. My painting. "Bastian." I whisper as I add tiny dances of light to his face. "Oh, that's lovely." I whip around and my mom is standing. I huff out a breath. "You scared me." She giggles
