The dining table, which usually sits bare or with a stack of Luke’s work papers, is now covered with a crisp white tablecloth. Two place settings are arranged with crystal wine glasses and silver cutlery, and in the center is a vase overflowing with more tulips. There’s a bottle of wine chilling in a bucket of ice, and plates of what looks like a delicious, home-cooked meal are set out, still steaming slightly.
I turn to Luke, my heart swelling with emotion. “Luke, this is… it’s beautiful. I can’t believe you did all this.”
