Enzo sprang to his feet immediately while I raised a brow, the calm demeanor not leaving my face. “What is wrong?” He grabbed him by the shoulder. “The… The… Sturgeon…” His eyes squeezed shut while Enzo’s eyes locked onto mine, and he connected through the mind link immediately. “Isn't that the pack in the human world?” He asked. “The one that the late Chef Charlotte cousin started…” I responded through the mind link.

It was going to be my turn to be there for Luca and I was going to kill Jonah when I was done with that. "So why did Charlotte have your pups?" I asked. "We were, still are, very much in love with each other. I found her living as a rogue, my mate was already dead and she didn't have a family, so we had each other. We still do have each other and nothing is going to change that," Jonah shrugged uncaringly. "That doesn't answer my question."

Elle said and Kyle came out of the kitchen and walked towards Elle. "What's the problem?" He asked "She has a nose bleed" Elle said "My Pet?" Kyle said as he turned to Eva and Elle nodded "I'm not your pet Kyle" Eva said and Kyle smiled "Okk..Since you are not my pet, stop your nose bleed yourself" He said about to walk back to the kitchen when Eva said "Fine, fine, fine. I'm your Pet" Kyle had a small smile on his face when he heard her and said "Not convincing enough". Eva sighed and said in a playful voice "I'm your Pet. Your one and only Pet". Kyle smirked and walked towards her and held her hand as he went to where he kept the first aid.

"Well, when I found him at the pet store, his leg was bandaged up and it was bleeding a lot. He kept whining and whimpering and I was going to bring him here sooner but it completely slipped my mind. I just want you to check if anything's broken and if he'll need surgery or anything like that." He nodded his head, "do you remember which leg was hurt?" I tried to remember, "his left hind leg." "Alright, let me take a look," he didn't even have to bend down because Romeo was already so large so he simply looked at his left hind leg. I saw him press into it but Romeo just sat there with his head rested on the ground, not making a sound.

I was a little alert. Seeing me like this, Roger couldn't help curling up the corner of his lips and smiled, "I've asked you to call Shelton. How come you are afraid that I will screw you up? Let me tell you, I'm just a Husky at best. The real wolf is the one behind you." His metaphor sounded somewhat funny. However, I knew that as Roger said, Shelton surely wasn't that simple. I hesitated for a moment. Then I got up, called Shelton, and left with Roger.

Looking at her defeated husband, she knew he had run out of options too. Roger stayed collapsed on the couch, bitter and unwilling to accept what was happening. Just then, his phone rang again. He glanced at the screen. It was an unknown number. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t have bothered answering. But now he grabbed it at once. “Hello? Who is this?” A man’s voice came through the line, sounding about Roger’s age. “Mr. York. Good evening.” “And you are?” Roger asked quickly. “My name is Peter Warren. I’m sure you know who I am.”

Tamsyn made it very clear that she didn’t care what happened to dad and me the last time I saw her. Swallowing hard, I lower my hands to my thighs and wipe them on my jeans. I ring the doorbell and wait patiently until Roger opens the door. A minute passes before the door comes open, and Roger’s imposing form fills the entryway. “Yes?” He mumbles with a grimace. Roger never really liked my dad or me. Come to think of it, Roger has never liked anyone. He always walks around with his nose up in the air as if he’s smelling something sour.

Jeff was talking to Carr and he joined the conversation. "Steve will be fine, just needs a day in bed. The gray wolf has a punctured lung and a broken leg. I want him out of the hospital as soon as his lung is healed, maybe two days. I'm going to keep him sedated as much as possible. He's definitely a rogue, no doubts in my mind. I also took a look at James' ear. Just a nick, he'll be fine." "Thanks Jeff, sorry to be keeping you so busy lately. Brett, guess we have some guests to talk to huh? I want to talk to them before talking to Gary. Let him stew." Brett nodded and they walked towards the holding cells.

I finally let out a breath of relief. At least no one was standing in front of me pretending anymore. Not long after, my parents returned with Roger. He sat dramatically in a wheelchair. My parents and Casey looked deathly pale. My mother spoke first, choking back sobs. "Roger… has been diagnosed with severe heart disease. Heart failure. He needs a transplant as soon as possible. Otherwise…" Roger weakly shook his head as tears slid down his face. "Dad… Mom… don't be sad. If there's a next life, I hope I can be your real son…"

If it hadn’t been for Roger, the now deceased leader, she would have died. The dog who’d bitten her had taken off, leaving her hurt and bleeding. Roger and his wife, Zedi, had guided her through the transition until she was able to mingle with humans once again. Until she’d been bitten her life had been ordinary. She had never taken the time to relish her life or the simple pleasures she enjoyed. Roger and Zedi helped her to adapt. Dogs had even stopped barking at her, and she had no choice but to sell her beloved cat. Having her pet hiss at her all the time was unsettling.
