Seeing that I couldn’t say a single word, the organizer snorted and gestured for Jasper to turn off the livestream. I pressed my lips together, still unable to figure out why. As if he could see straight through my thoughts, the organizer added sarcastically, “You’ve read the contract, right? A racer at your level withdrawing midway has to pay a penalty.” I gave him one last cold look, said nothing, and turned to leave. You’re not looking so sharp, Damon.” Damon lifted his head, spitting blood onto the floor. “Go to hell.” Phantom chuckled. “Oh, we’re already there.” His voice dropped, sharp with menace. “Where’s the flash drive?”

The race track was some kind of very dangerous road with sharp bends and ugly surprises, and like any illegal race, there was no fucking way to monitor whatever the racers do once they speed out of here. There were no rules. There were no limitations. No one cared if you live or die, or blow up to bits with your race car. No one gave a fuck if you attach a rocket to your car engine, or crack your fucking skull trying to maneuver a hard bend.
