His knuckles tightened when he gripped the wheel harder. “I don’t think I need you to say anything.” She sighed, conversation with him used to be so easy and natural. Now it felt cautious and ridiculous. The weight of her phobia bore down on her, amplifying the tension and making each passing second feel like an eternity. She yearned for the doors to open, to escape the clutches of her fear.
