Chapter 24 - Jason Ryan sat down before me, showing the most annoying smug look one could have on their face, and I hated so much how full of confidence he felt by that action. As he reached Alaia and me, his face broke out into a huge smile. “Welcome home, Xander, Luna.” I could feel Alaia’s body tense up a bit when he approached, but I understood why. I command “Yes.” She breathes nodding before turning her head away from me. As soon as I reach my armoury room I change into a pair of dark jeans, a black V-neck t-shirt and put on my boots. I strap on my 9mm underneath my shirt, grab my sniper case and insert my Matsuda blade onto my back. I was getting ready to party.

Usually, the sound of pucks thudding against the boards calms me. Today, it felt like someone dragging nails down my spine. I tied my black apron, yanked my hair into a knot, and fired up the espresso machine. Above the counter, the TV was muted, captions rolling over a face I knew too well. Darin Salvator. Black hair, ice-blue eyes, and a jawline that could cut glass. He was Aiden’s uncle, the pack’s pro-athlete disaster. Matt pouts, looking around at everyone’s new toys. “You have a hundred,” Andrew exaggerates on the specific number, but his point gets across. “Do you really need a new one?” “You can never have enough,” he grumbles, as Fletcher makes his way over. Two cases are in his hand, and another slung across his shoulders and back. Joining the rest of us, he puts a case in my hand before handing the other in Matt’s. I open it eagerly, revealing a hot pink paintball gun, “it’s beautiful, thank you Fletcher.”
