It had been going on for a while now, and we were all hoping they would work things out.

Alex hesitated for a moment, then pulled out her phone. She scrolled for a second before showing us a picture of her hand. On her ring finger was a delicate, silver promise ring.
“Oh my god,” I breathed. “Is that from Cole?”
