Damien looked down and I could see the worry across his face. Before I could speak, Damien moved to the fridge and grabbed several bottles of water. He turned back to me and spoke. “I have promised Alpha Callan that I will protect you. When Xavier attacks tomorrow, I will ensure that you are safe.” Damien turned and walked away, moving back toward the office. I stood, uncertain of how to process what Damien had just said to me. I barely knew Damien, but he had helped me time and again to get away from Xavier and now he was going to protect me.

Damien slowly stood up and walked to Alex on the alter, he smiled at him and stretched his hand for a handshake. “Hello, my name is Damien Robbin, the man from Salado.” He said with a smile and Alex could hear his own heartbeat.

I said when I was finally able to look away from both of them and turn my attention back to my dad. He looked at them cautiously. Alex seemed to be quite shocked by Damien's request, but he didn't bother to show it. Damien on the other hand didn't want anything alcoholic. He wanted to be sober for a while...
