Don't Leave Me
She quickly ended the call, her hands shaking.
She paced the room, clutching the phone tightly. A part of her told her to let it go, but the unresolved emotions churned inside her like a storm. With trembling fingers, she redialed the number.
This time, when the beep sounded, Natasha began to speak.
“Hello... I don’t know if anyone will hear this, but I—I just found out that Bernice is... no more.” Her voice cracked as tears welled up in her eyes. “I’m so sorry that I never got to meet her. I’ve heard so much about her, and it hurts to think that she’s gone. I would have loved to know her.”
