I pull back no more than an inch or two, enough for her to suck in air through her nose. Her eyes are full of tears, and somehow, even that’s good. I don’t want to hurt her, but for some reason, the possibility of it satisfies my wolf.
“Go on,” I murmur. “Just remember that if I’m not pleased, I’ll let you know.” And I laugh at her soft groan, but that doesn’t stop her, either. She’s determined. Whether it’s sheer pride or a desire to please me, she’s going to do this. My chest swells, spreading a new sort of warmth through me that has nothing to do with mating.
