I stood on the street corner for what felt like hours, finally gathering enough courage to attempt mind-linking with my sisters. Unsurprisingly, they had blocked my mental connection long ago. I sighed and pulled out my phone, calling my Alpha sister, Alexa. Twenty years as siblings should count for something. No matter how ugly things had become, we deserved one final meal together. She disconnected my calls repeatedly before finally shutting her phone off completely. I swallowed it down and dialed my Beta sister, Riley. This time, after an eternity of ringing, she deigned to answer, like she was granting me some grand favor.

"You're not doing this. You don't get to be the martyr this time. What happened was on me. Let me carry that." I sigh, my chest tightening. "I just don't want to lose you again." She looks at me with something between sadness and affection. "Lydia, we lost each other a long time ago. What we had as sisters... it broke before all this even started." I frown. "You're saying sisterhood is just about falling apart and fixing it over and over again?"

“If you had any backbone, you wouldn’t come back after leaving! “Now you’re still dreaming of returning to the pack and competing with Rose for her position. You’re truly shameless!” Leon’s words instantly caused everyone to look at me differently. “I thought Claire came back to care for her sister. I didn’t expect her to come back to steal her sister’s happiness. “Good thing Alpha Leon loves Rose.” The surrounding discussion made Rose’s eyes redden. She generously stood in front of me again. “Please don’t say that about Claire. After all, she’s my sister.”

"Cynthia was our real sister! You're the fake!" The entitled look of arrogance on Sarah's face instantly froze. Joseph trembled as he picked up the reports from the floor, reading them over and over again. "No... That's impossible..." he muttered, shaking all over. "The sister we lost... The real sister we searched for over ten years..." Thomas' voice was terribly hoarse. "It was never Sarah." He pointed in the direction where my spirit floated. For a moment, I thought he could see me. "It was Cynthia."

“But they don’t get to define who we are. We do. And from now on, you’re not alone in this. You’ve got me, you’ve got my family. And that’s what matters.” My sister may be a lot of things. A girl whose father sold her twice to protect himself, a wife who turns a blind eye to her husband's dealings simply because she loved that man more than life itself and a mother who will kill to protect her children if the need ever arises but I don't think I've ever seen her in this role.

The sound of fabric tearing echoed through the cubicle, and soon, my clothes, which were torn into pieces, hung loosely on me, barely covering me. A wave of shame washed over me, but the terror for my unborn child overwhelmed me as my pregnant belly was exposed before their eyes. Tears of despair streamed down my face, and suddenly, the hand over my mouth released. I seized the moment to speak. "I'm Anthony's sister!" But my words were met with mocking laughter. "I came back to save your child!" I pleaded, my voice cracking with desperation.

Even though she was puzzled, she knew that was not the time to ask him. Then, Celena turned her head again and looked at Brianna, who was kneeling before her. She watched Brianna coldly as she kept begging her for forgiveness. Hearing Brianna mention their sisterhood filled Celena with disappointment and hatred! Sisterhood? What a joke! Was there any sisterhood left between them? Did Brianna not think that she was ridiculous when she said that? Why did Brianna not think of their sisterhood when she was harming her back then? Why did she not think of their sisterhood when she dragged her from the hospital to Hughes Mansion?

My sister won't breathe a word; she's always been like that. I focus on washing the dishes, placing the plates and utensils in their rightful places. Finally, I'm finished. I hear the sound of laughter coming from the living room, my sister's voice booming above the rest. Sarah is always at her happiest and loudest when she is with Aiden and Bryan, especially with Aiden. It is not surprising. Of course, Aiden is her best friend. That is why I don't want anything to do with Aiden anymore. I don't want to be the one to ruin their friendship. Fuck how I feel about Blacksmith.

I turned. "Your sister was lucky to have you." The words hit me like a fist. I nodded, not trusting my voice, and walked out

“Did you expect anything less?” Heat rushed to my face. “I think she’s trying so hard to be like her sister,” the third one chimed in casually, taking a sip of her drink. “But she knows she can’t compete.” The words hit harder than they should have. “She doesn’t have the class,” the first one added. “So what’s left?” A pause. Then…… “She uses what she has.” Silence. For a second, the world around me faded. All I could hear were their voices.
