“You gave me life, and I curse you for it!” The shadows rose like smoke around her, swallowing her form until only her voice remained. “You took my mother’s soul, Father. Now I’ll take your queen’s.” And then, she was gone. Silence fell. The eclipse still raged above, but inside the palace, all eyes turned to the queen—pale, trembling, clutching her heart. For on her lips was the faint taste of poison.

Jakeson’s pov The queen showed up down the corridor. When she saw Octava the color just seemed to fade out of her face. "Oh my god,” she said slowly. “What happened?” I didn’t say anything as I yelled to the maids to open her room. I climbed the stairs and entered the room, slowly dropping her on the bed. The queen went right to Octava's side. She brushed the hair away from her face. “It’s that damned poison again,” she muttered, looking up with tears in her eyes. “What the hell happened?!"

“Tell me there is a way. Some cure. Some—” “There is,” the queen mother interrupted, her tone sharp enough to silence even a king. She looked between Theron and Silas, then Kael, and finally said the words that had been weighing on her. “But it is not one you will want to hear.” Kael stirred weakly, his lashes wet against his skin. Silas instantly leaned closer, brushing Kael’s damp hair back, muttering, “Don’t listen. Don’t you dare listen unless it saves you.” The queen mother’s voice trembled for the first time. “The poison is clever. It binds to the body that is strongest… and right now, Kael’s body has chosen to shield the life inside him, even at his own expense.”

Damion's POV. "That girl is on my last nerve. I swear the next time she does some stupid shit I am putting a bullet in-between her fucking eyes." I slammed my fist into the punching bag. "What did she do this time?" Heth, my second in command, snickered as he held the bag for me. "She fucking killed one of the guards and tried to run. I don't get why she wants to leave. I have given her anything she asks for."

Two guards entered, dragging Mora between them, her hands bound in front of her. “Your Majesty,” one of them said, bowing. “As you ordered.” The Queen’s gaze finally lifted from Rebecca. It landed on Mora. “Mora,” the Queen said quietly, her voice deadly calm. “What did you give her?” Mora didn't answer at first. She just stared at Rebecca, her expression unreadable. "Answer me," The Queen said, her voice hardening. Mora lifted her chin. "A poison," She said flatly. "One designed to mimic natural decline. Slow. Subtle. Untraceable."

The last thing she saw before darkness claimed her was the gleam of teeth in the moonlight and the shadows of something moving closer through the forest. And then… silence. Her world went black.

“It’s all right.” Hellion jolted a bit as she suddenly heard the softness in his voice. A strange feeling welled up within her, particularly in her stomach. Her child reacts. Xegris then told her. “Now that my seed is inside you. You’ll bear the heir of the Demon realm. You will be my Queen, the mother of the whole realm.” He then caressed her stomach in a gentle manner and retracted his body away from her. Xegris sighed softly as he finally tucked her into the blanket. Hellion confusedly look at him. Her eyes brimming with doubt. She must’ve been surprised seeing him like this.

I am certain he was poisoned by that particular plant" The physician said looking at the Queen with certainty but all she did was cry more. "Thank goodness he's alright," the Queen said and she wept a little bit. Dryk Bolton, the Captain of the king's guard came in and bowed to the Queen.

Familiar. “Did you get it?” I asked, leaning forward. A hand slid through the gap in the wall. A small vial. Black liquid. Unlabeled. “Straight from the rogue camps,” he whispered. “You sure about this?” I smiled. “Let’s see how strong the Queen is when her own child poisons her from the inside.” Ending Scene XENIA’S POV That night, I dreamed of fire again.
