The nearest chair shattered against the stone wall before I had even registered moving. Splinters flew. My hands were already claws, and my breath came in ragged snarls. Ashina. My Ashina. The Phoenix, who had once burned kingdoms beside me. The wolf whose mark I bore. The woman whose scent still lived on my skin. She had agreed to give him an heir? I hurled the table aside, the polished wood crashing and breaking like a brittle lie. The silver cut across my palms when I struck the mirror, shattering my very reflection. Good. I didn’t want to see myself.

I’ve never met a wolf with abilities outside of our natural capacity to shift. The problem is that Bash also sees himself as a bit of a superhero, a defender of justice. His wolf, Kai, is no help in that matter, encouraging him to test his skills and learn more about who he is. The problem with being a child “superhero” however is that he is still so young, and he doesn’t always understand when someone is truly bad, or just being mean. I turn and check on Ash. "Pokemon's Pikachu", Ansh says and I know that he is trying to mess up with my mind.

I said sincerely and Ashr pffts me. "Alhan is a snake, literally Zax. He's crazy and rambunctious. Nothing but a troublemaker and just like his father," he growled menacingly and I nodded my head and laughed. "I already know Ashr but I want to cause trouble with him and not be tied down by you. I am not a fucking pet," I growled angrily and Ashr rolled his eyes. I watched a group of federation officers enter the room he was in and hold up weapons. I saw the shock and surprise on Ashr's face as he turned and I saw the demonic look he gave back to me and his brother that had just joined me.

They'd talked over the phone, when Ash was about twelve years old, and since then, Ash hadn't managed to get a hold himself again. But just then, Ash smelled the unmistakable, weird smell of a Alpha, and for a single second, he thought that kid was somehow here, but of course, he wasn't, because when Ash hastily looked up, he saw through the tears swimming in his eyes the bane of his existence crouched down, his hand on the slide above as he peered down at Ash, his tail wagging swiftly behind him.

“You’re not a Pokemon, Hunter. I can’t just choose you.” Hunter snorted at the joke. Even as he was seriously professing undying devotion to her, she still found a way to make light of it. Typical. And yet it was one of the things he liked about her. His heart ached for her. If only she could feel the same way about him. He kissed her lightly on the forehead. Then he got up from the bed. “Where are you going?” Ash asked. “I’m going to take a shower,” he said and headed for the bathroom.
