I crashed hard against a metal crate, the breath violently knocked out of my lungs. The iron pipe clattered uselessly away into the flames. "Emma!" Draven’s pained, frantic voice echoed in my head through the lingering connection, but his wolf couldn't rise. Xavier placed a heavy paw firmly on Draven’s chest, pinning him down once more, before turning his glowing, predatory eyes back to me.
