“Was that how you wanted me to react to your dry joke?”
Jake only grinned in response.
Before I could retaliate, the pilot’s voice crackled through the speaker, announcing our arrival.
“Oh, finally,” I muttered, shifting my gaze toward the window.
Seattle stretched below a sea of shimmering city lights, modern buildings rising tall, and distant roads glowing under the night sky. It was breathtaking.
“First time in Seattle?” Jake asked, his voice casual.
I hesitated before nodding. “Yeah.”
He studied my expression for a moment before speaking. “It’s a good city. You’ll like it.”
