The estate grounds stretched endlessly beyond the glass, dark and quiet under the night sky. “People assume power is about accumulation,” he said. “It’s not. It’s about leverage.” He turned back to me. “You are leverage.” I stiffened. “Against who?”

It had reshaped power. And power always left fingerprints. Even when it believed money could wash them away.

“Tell me, then—what is the difference between power and wealth?” “Wealth is possession,” she answered without looking away. “Power is control over outcomes. Wealth can be seized. Power… is negotiated.” The library fell into absolute stillness. That answer wasn’t something a girl in her position was supposed to deliver with such calm certainty. Old Master Shore tapped his cane again—slow, thoughtful. “And which do you intend to have?” “Power.” No hesitation. No apology. Just steel. He watched her. Then, after a long beat, he gave a single nod. “Quite ambitious.”

It was a tone previously reserved for Brian alone. He could sense the power of it. It was a dirty, thrilling current that coursed through his system. This was what Brian had handed over to him. Not just money, but dominion. The ability to reshape markets, dictate terms to governments, to have his capricious will regarded as law by the most powerful people on earth.

She howled at me. I swallowed her insults, putting on a brick front. Up until now, I had not realised the bitterness I suddenly evoked in the hearts of the people I considered myself closest to. All it took was hitting the double digit billion dollar mark for this to happen. You see in our world, the pinnacle was hundreds of millions of dollars, and perhaps, a billion for the one percent. I was way past that ideology that more money didn't matter as long as one wielded power. What was power without the money to back it up?

Roman asks, raising his eyebrows at Chaos. “that why you powerful? Just like what you say right?” Chaos replied. “Of course, power always comes from money---that’s why money is the most important thing in our life specially to me, I’m sure to you too.” Roman said to him but Chaos sigh and shake his head that made Roman frown. “I don’t think money is all the source of power, there are many things that could give you power than money.” Chaos said. “Family” He said and Roman laughed.

I say. "Yeah. But how?" Lai looks at me. I rise on the bed and sit with a pillow on my lap. "Money and manipulation." I look straight at Lai's eyes. "Umm...Money I get. But manipulation?" I smirk and look away from her. "If money could do everything in this world,then the richest would have been ruling us under monarchy. It provides you luxury,but there are certain games that need to be played to be in power." I wish I had a chessboard to play. My words would have sounded more dramatic.

It is the highest position a common person can dream of. As for people like us, wealthy families, to have more than one power is simply making our status higher than any other wealthy families. We will gain respect even from those families who regarded us as their enemies. As power is what makes this country stable, it is a much needed requirement before graduating in the College of Power. 'I wonder how Heather was able to graduate despite hiding her powers.' But then again, it's the power of money – the greatest power of all time. As for what power a person can have, it depends on their family bloodline.

Mrs Lena came into my life and made everything smooth and better. She made me transfer into her cell, and that was how I realized how good having power is. Without stepping a foot outside her cell, they would bring different dishes in there for her, and I would only stand there watching in surprise. She once said something to me, and I never intend to forget those words of hers. She said “Power and money buy you audacity” And how she is right. When you have power, you automatically attain power, and that is all you need to rule your world.
