The Nearness of You: The Thorntons Book 1

The Nearness of You: The Thorntons Book 1

The table fell into silence once more. “You don’t have to remind me of my past or my family. It follows me wherever I go,” Sara said quietly, her chin tipped up in defiance. “But I’m not ashamed of my past. What is shameful is how you treat people you deem beneath you. I may be from the wrong side of the tracks, but at least my conscience is clear.”

FILTHY SINS

FILTHY SINS

Enough to steal the edge from every sentence. She advanced the first slide. Her voice held. Kai’s text appeared on her lock screen, visible only to her because he had already rewritten the display rules. `louder if you lose your place` `softer if you keep selling` She kept selling. By slide seven the intensity had climbed twice. Her thighs pressed together under the table. A bead of sweat tracked between her shoulder blades. The client asked about uptime guarantees. She answered with a number that was correct and a breath that was not.

Just checked out the first few chapters. The author has a very confident writing style and commits fully to the theme of the book. The pacing moves well, and the tone stays consistent throughout. Looking forward to seeing how the collection develops.

Uncle Darius definitely knows his game ... “Careful what you wish for, my beautiful sin…” already had me hooked, but “by midnight the altar is going to be soaked…” whew — that line was intense. The tension, the obsession, the danger? Absolutely addictive.

Let's Read Her Mind

Let's Read Her Mind

It was Alice. She looked as thin as Mark, like a strong wind could knock her over. Her hair was a greasy mess, and her face was all bruised up, like she had been in a fight. She yelled with a face full of bitterness, "Helen, you're not prettier, smarter, or more hardworking than I am. You just got lucky by being born into a better family. Why does everyone love you and want to help you? "Why? Why couldn't I have been born into the Clark family? Why is life so unfair to me?"

A Life Without Gratitude

A Life Without Gratitude

"I just—I hung up. She was mid-sentence and I hung up." "That's amazing." "That's terrifying." "Both things can be true." Mina pushes the lemon cake toward me. "How do you feel?" "Like I'm going to throw up. Like I just jumped off a cliff. Like—" I search for words. "Like I'm either doing the bravest thing I've ever done or I'm making the biggest mistake of my life and I can't tell which." "It's the brave thing," Mina says firmly. "Claire, you got promoted. You got a raise. And your mother's first instinct was to claim it for your sister. That's not normal. That's not love."

I Quit Being a Stepmother

I Quit Being a Stepmother

"Sometimes I just don't understand why you hold such grudges against Ms. Ravelle and Mr. Snider. The facts are clear, yet you obsess over them and do so many cruel things." The mention of Rhea struck at the heart of Kate's deepest insecurities. Frowning, she clenched her hands tightly. "You…" "You're only a little better-looking than the average person. Your main advantage is the presence you give off. Take that away, and you'd be lost in the crowd. "But Ms. Ravelle? She's dazzling inside and out, humble, and genuine. A person like that deserves happiness. So what's there for you to resent? After all, you have none of her beauty, background, talent, or sincerity," Sawyer mocked.

THE REJECTED LUNA

"But you still did." Tears immediately filled Sara's eyes. "I loved him." "I know." "I still do." "I know." Sara wiped away a tear. "I thought..." She laughed bitterly. "...I thought if Edward chose me, I'd finally stop feeling guilty." "Guilty?" "For always being compared to you." Elsie frowned. "What?" Sara smiled sadly. "You never noticed." "Mother always praised your kindness." "Father admired your patience." "The elders respected your intelligence." "I was always..."

Finding Love Online

Finding Love Online

They both fit well into that category very easily. "Hello, Mrs. Daughtry, how can I help you tO’Brieny?” Sarah greeted her as she opened the front door. Sarah Michaels, who was better known as princess to everyone who knew her, was already tired from the day and the fighting of herself to even make the online profile. Dealing with her neighbor was not something she wanted to do even on a normal day. Smaller than most women, Sarah only stood barely five feet tall with her boots on. She was slight in build, and though she seemed to not be that strong, she could easily lift her suit when it was pack. The suit weighed eighty-plus pounds easily. Her size often led people to underestimate her, and

“Yeah, sure. Now you say that. After I read the truth in your own words. How am I supposed to believe anything you say? I feel so stupid right now.” We stood there for a long minute. Both of us breathing hard. Sara wiped her eyes with the towel. It left her face red and blotchy. “Please believe me. Those old pages are old news. The new ones are about you. I can show you every line if you want. Just sit down and read them with me. We can go through it together.”

The CEO'S Forgotten Promise

he said quietly, a small smile playing on his lips, “my grandmother already likes you. She told me today that you have ‘that gentle strength’ she admires. Coming from her, that’s the highest compliment.” Sara’s smile widened, a little of the nervousness easing from her chest. “She’s been so kind to me. I was scared she would see me as… damaged goods after everything with Tom.” Kingsley turned to face her more fully, his expression serious but full of warmth. “She doesn’t see damage. She sees resilience. And so do I. You’ve turned pain into power, Sara. That’s what makes you extraordinary.” Sara leaned in and rested her forehead against his for a moment, closing her eyes. “Thank you for seein

I haven’t read this book yet. I liked the plot but skeptical to start as this book is not completed. I added this to my library and when it’s complete I will read as I am having a bad experience with a book where writer is just dragging the story with chapters which are just few pages in length

I’ve added to my library but refuse to read any book that is not completed. Very frustrated with updated chapters and unfortunately a few books over 600 chapters still not ending and updated chapters were just fluff. Once this is completed, will gladly read.
