My name was Charlie Collins. I had been married for eight years and had always worked from home as a freelancer. I rarely went out, mostly relying on online design gigs to bring in an income. James let out a roar that was more animal than human before lunging toward Marissa. He wrapped his hands around her neck and squeezed tightly. "Why! Why did you cut off her oxygen? Why did you steal her bailout cylinder?" Marissa's eyes rolled to the back of her head as she was lifted off the ground by James. Her legs kicked uselessly in the air, while her nails gouged bloody lines down James' face. "Y-You… a-agreed to it…" She struggled to get the words out, her face flushing red as she choked. "On April Fools' Day… Y-You said it was… okay to prank her… to teach her a lesson… she won't forget…"

Maybe Enrico had no idea the registration never went through. I looked up at him, my voice trembling. "Enrico, there seems to be an issue with our marriage registration. Let's go redo it. Right now." The last glimmer of light in my heart went out completely. After a long silence, I slowly nodded and forced out a single word. "Okay."

As we walked through the gate, we bumped into him and Maggie heading out, hand in hand. We passed them, but Livio grabbed my arm. "What's this? Not playing the good girl anymore? Bringing guys home now?" Before I could respond, Jordan knocked his hand off and pulled me close. "Watch your mouth! It reeks of cheap insults." Livio didn't get mad, but his eyes mocked me. "Wow, the fake marriage crew is really committing to the act. But I'm curious, Diane. How are you gonna spin this tomorrow when it all falls apart?"

He starts to walk out of the room; at the top of the stairs, we walk through the door that says 'Couples' on it. "This side is for swingers, which I am sure you have heard of. Some couples come here together with another couple, and some couples come with a female to fuck while their partner watches." He is so blunt. The whole thing, while it is scary, is interesting and safe. Walking down, he was right; there were three couples in one room. "Are they with their partners?" I am shocked, staring at them.

I said, gulping a glass of scotch I took from the minibar. “A bloody junior suite mate, and remember you called me over? Bullocks, you and your wife are so fucking kinky,” Antonio scoffed, flicking ash off his joint like he was judging my life choices. “Y’all were going at it while someone was bleeding out on your floors? That’s some next-level freak shit… even for me. And I’ve done alot of weird shit.” He shook his head, muttering under his breath. “Man, I always knew you were a sadist, but this? This is a whole-ass lifestyle.”

One was at a banquet, another at a cafe, another in what looked like the streets of Paris. She looked so happy in all the pictures while he, I couldn’t exactly say “happy” but he looked cool, relaxed, maybe? There were even more news article from different media outlets about them from three years ago. Were they in a relationship back then? Were they still dating? I recalled Lorenzo had said he had never been in a proper relationship. Just flings. But this woman doesn’t seem like someone one might have a fling with. And there was no way he wouldn’t have been floored by such a woman. Even the news articles praised how great they looked together, how much of a power couple they’d be.
