It always just set in without warnings but I am glad I got accustomed to it and now I can control it better without freaking out by the things I see," she explained but I was still curious.

I sent a voice message to a pinned contact with a grayscale profile. “Mom, I nailed the audition. “The orchestra conductor said they have room in the dorms, so I’ll be moving over tonight. “I’ll be on my own now, Mom. Don’t you worry.” The text was sent successfully, but a reply would never come. Out of habit, I took out my obsolete phone and texted myself a “you did great” emoji before packing my bags. The lights downstairs were killed, and ten minutes later, a car pulled up outside the manor.

A scream tears from my throat as my fingers claw at the air. But it doesn't matter. The branch slips past my reach. I am falling. The forest rushes up to meet me. Firm fingers clamp around my wrist. Then the fall stops. My body jerks violently to a stop. I blink through the haze of pain. Green eyes. No. Kaine. He regards me with that same infuriating calm, as though catching someone in midair is a frequent occurrence. “You really have no sense of self-preservation.”

I had the same dream about you and your mate for several nights in a row, so I was sure you’d find him during the Haze. You have the gift of premonition. You have visions; they can be of the past, present, or future. Right now, they hide in your dreams, but the stronger you get, you will receive them when you are conscious.”
