I did not need my assistant for this meeting because it was not job-related. I arrived at the coffee shop five minutes late and parked my car across the street. I got out of my car and looked across to the coffee shop, to check if Mr. Addams was already there waiting for me, but no one was there. I dialed his number while crossing the street. A car rounded the corner so fast that I could not move away from the road quickly. It drove toward me with so much speed that the next thing I knew, I was flying in the air. As I fell, I landed on something hard, rolled over, and finally landed on the ground. The world went blank.

I know where this is going but I didn't think much of it because I have no idea what he was thinking. He continued. “Pride has a strange way of convincing us that we’re always right. It whispers that apologizing is weakness. It tells us that power is more important than people.” His voice remained steady. “But pride lies.” I lowered my eyes. Every sentence felt familiar. Not because he was telling our story. Because I knew exactly where those words came from. “There are moments in life when someone stands beside you through your worst days. I come back and situate myself, legs tucked in and play the movie. I watched till the part where Mei-lei and four towns started to sing, "nobody like you" and I couldn't help the tears that threatened to flow as I listened to the lyrics. When they sang the part that said, "I'm never gonna let you cry, oh cry, oh cry. I'm always gonna be your ride, or die, or die," the water works started. With each words, tears flowed as I put a spoonful of ice cream in my mouth, blubbering the lyrics.
