Dark shadows lurked in the trees, hidden by the leaves, the moonlight was unable to find them. They walked with silence, unheard to nature. The men dressed in camouflage, and were armed with shotguns and crossbows. They split into teams to surround the beast and his family. Their mission to kill the beast, and anything like him. The howls filled the air as the men began their hunt. As the beast ran with his pack, the lead hunter aimed for his mate. With one shot of his crossbow, he hited her in the back, going straight through.. Blood splattered out at the force. They had got the beast's attention.

The police had to get involved, there were two police cars out the front of the diner. Ducking under the police tape, Damien stepped into his diner, he was feared by everyone, humans, wolves and vampires alike, he was known as the Blood Alpha and that was not just because Blood is his surname. Her sent hit him sending him into a short sense of euphoria, he had finally found her his mate after, eighteen years of searching he had finally found her.

It was mesmerizing. He couldn't help but notice the fact that she had yet to look into his eyes! "I apologize, she is blind" Antonio spoke up as he took a step in front of his daughter in a protective stance. The prince simply nodded and tried to keep his mind off of the woman that intrigued him so much. He didn't miss the fact that his wolf was going crazy. She was his mate but she was also a Vampire. A Blind vampire. It was as if something in him switched off. The moon Goddess had given him a defective mate.

Chapter 1: The Decision My hands were shaking as I clicked the confirmation button. I, Claire Thompson, 29 years old, soon-to-be-divorced (or at least separated), had just signed up for a primal hunt weekend. The website had been clear: consenting adults only. Safe words. Masks. No real names. The forest location was remote, private land, with experienced staff monitoring everything. Still, my heart was hammering like I’d already started running.

"It can't take you if someone's watching your back. That's the whole trick. It needs the blind spot. So we don't have one." So that's the plan. Stand chest-out in the dark, his spine welded to mine, and turn in one slow circle as a single animal with eyes on all of it. Genius. Also a problem. Because the second he's against me I can feel the heat coming off him, and the steel-and-wolfsbane-and-clean-sweat of him is right there, that green thread of a lie running under it the way it always does. My body forgets entirely that we’re being hunted.

A circular area was marked with chalk, and someone produced a blindfold. "The rules are simple," Dimitris explained, pacing before us. "One person is blindfolded and placed in the center of the circle. They must rely on their senses—hearing, scent, and instinct—to catch the 'prey.' We'll choose someone to sneak around them. If the hunter can sense and catch the prey before they escape the circle, they win. If the prey manages to tap the hunter and escape without being caught, they win." "Now, since it's a special night, our first hunter will be…" He turned toward me, smirking. "Our temporary Luna!"

Suddenly, a deafening roar split the sky. Several armed police helicopters thundered overhead. Their blinding white searchlights enveloped the highway, lighting up the darkness like it was broad daylight.

“He’s… he’s not coming out into the open. He’s—” “Watching,” Blade finished for me, teeth clenched. “Every move. Every breath. He’s hunting the moment we make a mistake.” Cruz’s lips pressed into a hard line. “We can’t fight what we can’t see. Not yet.” The shadow moved again—fluid, silent, a predator in the dark. “He’s taunting us,” I said, voice barely audible. “He wants us scared.” Blade’s eyes narrowed. “Good. Let him. Fear makes people predictable. And predictable is killable.”

He looked toward me, his golden eyes wide, pupils blown so large they swallowed the iris. "Aria..." he rasped, his voice a ruined vibration. "I can't... I can't smell you." The admission hit me like a physical blow. He was sensory-blind. For an Alpha Prime, it was the equivalent of being buried alive in a soundless, lightless box. He couldn't track the enemies; he couldn't even find me in the dark. "Shut up and fight!" I hissed, lunging toward him as three Council wolves erupted from the treeline.

MIA'S POV The red lights weren't lights at all. They were eyes. Thousands upon thousands of glowing red eyes, staring at us from the darkness beyond the bus. Each one belonging to something that wanted us dead. "Holy shit," Brady whispered. The screen descended, showing rules in that familiar blood-red text: THE CRIMSON HUNT RULES: 1. You are the prey. Survive until dawn. 2. The Hunters cannot be killed, only delayed. 3. Safe zones exist but are temporary. Use them wisely.
