Tyler’s POV: The hunt was going better than expected. The forest, shrouded in twilight, was eerily silent except for the occasional crackle of leaves beneath our boots and the distant rustle of branches overhead. We had already taken down several animals, their lifeless forms marking a trail deeper into the woods. Yet, there was an unsettling weight in the air, an offbeat silence that I couldn’t ignore. My brothers and I moved in sync, our senses sharp, scanning for our next target.

While they ate, Diana couldn't help but stare at the blind prince who was sitting opposite her. "Why hasn't he said anything about the killer?" She murmured unknown to her that Damon was hearing everything she said. Diana was taken aback by the prince's sudden gaze. His silver eyes were piercing and seemed to look right through her. She felt as if he could see her soul, and it made her feel exposed and vulnerable. She quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed by the intensity of his gaze.

This had me thinking for a moment. Sure, I wanted him to mark me. In fact, the urge was stronger than ever now that we were talking about it. But was I truly ready? If he marked me on my neck/shoulder where I wanted him to mark me, in the spot that was visible to others, that could be a dead giveaway while I'm still Hunting. I couldn’t risk that, not yet. But if I had him mark me somewhere where it wasn't visible, then I could still be marked and still Hunt. But then later, when I want it to show, I don’t think it could be moved. This was difficult.

Blaine usually went out with a group of five to go hunting to bring the max amount of food back, however today him and the missus got into a big fight, so he left by himself. I watched as he traveled to the east end of the forest. It had the most game over here, most days we had rabbit, some good days we’d eat deer, elk, and buck. Allison helped by bringing some chickens, so we aren’t short on much. I sat 200 yards back, and watched through my scope. My 308 was my best. I never missed a shot with it. I watched as he sat still waiting for the doe to cross his sights one more time.

The field was a vacant flatland, but because of the mist it was difficult to navigate through. The place was easy to get lost. People with poor sense of direction and vision were forbidden to enter. But for hunters with open chakra and human echolocation, it was not much difficult to get through. The beast was spotted near one of the caves. Their first priority was to get the beast out somewhere in the open. Since there were a lot of people, the hunt was not possible inside a secluded cave.

Especially if the omega wore that yellow band. Within five minutes, the forest was filled with muted screams as the first of the prey were being caught. Over 3,000 omegas had started in this year's hunt. Based on the new rules, every omega in the Hunt had a corresponding hunter searching for her, waiting to drag her off to a new life in a new tribe. To catch and claim your mate, you had to mark her. That meant biting her neck in possession. The combination of a bite, along with the adrenaline and endorphins of the chase meant most prey passed out from the overload to their system. Logan’s POV I had put everyone on high alert. The entire pack were looking for her. She couldn’t have gotten far. She had maybe a couple minutes head start. Blake, Leo and Calvin were all out helping to search for her as well. Blake had shifted into his large grey wolf. Taking off into the forest in the hopes of picking up her scent. Leo and Calvin were searching the grounds. I should be helping to look. Lana was my mate, but I found myself making my way to my parent’s bedroom.

She tossed her long, dark brown hair—the same color as the rest of the Brentwoods'—over her shoulders and blinked at him with Brentwood blue eyes. “You’re our brother, and you’re suffering,” she whispered. They were all wolves, so they could hear her clearly. “You had to kill a lone wolf who threatened the border and wouldn’t give up. Now you have to make decisions that, from our point of view, won’t be easy. So, Hunter, my brother, our brother, we’re here for you. Even if we bother you like crazy. We’re here.”

Nothing felt like enough. “Silas,” I whispered, pressing my hands to his chest. His breathing was shallow, his body too still. The scent of silver mixed with blood was suffocating. The hunters were getting closer. I could see their shadows through the gaps in the trees, hear their low voices cutting through the air. I squeezed my eyes shut, muttering a prayer to anyone who might be listening. A shift in the wind made my breath catch. A familiar voice rang through the air. “Let’s wrap this up! We’ve got enough!”
