It’s either a staff that’s still alive or a vampire, we don’t know and we have to find out before they blow up the building.”

I blew a long whistle. “That’s a damn shame. Who’s the broad?” I poured out the coffee and blew on the fumes before sipping the foam and feeling the first thrill run through my spine. Coffee was heaven.

I couldn’t go to jail. Just watching TV shows like Prison Break made me fucking paranoid. The way T-Bag held out his pocket for people to become his slaves, and raped men in prison. The way everybody rolled around with shanks, and you had to pick sides, rather than just bide your time and mind your own business.

Celine's POV The helicopter started up, and my stomach fell. It was chaos down there, the prison yard. Running guards, smoke from the explosions I'd caused. Police cars converging, sirens wailing. We climbed higher, and the scene shrank, and I couldn’t stop watching. I had just helped someone break out of a federal prison. With explosives. And a bribed warden. My hands started shaking. Adrenaline crash hitting hard. I stood there hugging myself, doing my best to keep it together.

Jack really hadn’t thought that far. “It’s fine. Even if they find out, it doesn’t matter,” he said while resting one arm on the couch. After a moment, he felt that was too casual and was about to pull his hand back when Jessie immediately caught his hand. She leaned against his arm and snuggled closer while watching the television. In a soft voice, she asked, “Did you go to prison because you broke the law? Or was it on purpose?” “No, it wasn't on purpose,” Jack replied.

Giving the woman one last look, I begin to move, closing the cell door behind me so that no one will realize what happened too quickly. Shoving my knife back in my pocket, I begin to move, making my way through the halls of the prison until I reach the main holding tank. Inside, there are many women dressed in jumpsuits laughing and talking amongst themselves while they enjoy their dinner. Stopping, I take them all in as a plan begins to build, and when I’m sure it is exactly the distraction I need to get out of here unnoticed, I head toward the wall where a single red button sits underneath glass that says break in case of emergency.

“Yes, thank you.” “Well, don't just stand there, dear, get in.” The woman's voice carried an Upstate accent, but a different one from the goofy inmate who had unknowingly helped Janice with her prison break. Janice was no expert on localized accents and no idea where either of them had originated from beyond the magical (and scary) land of Upstate.
