Prologue Bookshop Novels & Stories

Something struck me as I browsed through the shelf: every single book we had in my bookstore back in the human world was on the shelf. How come? What manner of coincidence was that? It was as if someone had transferred the entire bookstore to his room. I ignored it and continued browsing until I saw an unfamiliar book. My hand reached for it and dragged it out from the back of the shelf. “The prophecy of a Luna Reborn?” I read aloud as I stared at the cover. It was nothing extravagant in design or aesthetics. It looked like a diary that was written by someone to another person. The fonts were neatly written along the lines of the book.

If this was a trap, better one of us fall than both. He'd argued. Of course he'd argued. But in the end, he understood. Some doors only open for one person. The bookstore was called "Between the Pages." A narrow storefront on a quiet street, windows fogged with salt air, a hand-painted sign creaking in the wind. I walked into the huge library and was impressed by the collection on the shelves. “Hello,” I looked around and there was no one there. I used the opportunity to go through the books. There were many rare collections from renowned authors. I picked one of them and began reading through the prologue.

We just moved here.” I strode around the shop, touching an array of candles, books, jewelry, and much more. The shopkeeper came back and handed me a book. I ignored her creepy smile, and read the title, Birth of Witches.

I run my hand over it before propping it open. 'How to refine your magic: A Complete Guide'. "Hmmm…" I purse my lips together. Could this actually be the answer to all of my prayers? Gods, I hoped so. Closing the book, I flip the book over. Weirdly enough, there's no barcode on the back of it, nor on the inside cover when I flip it open again. Had someone left this here on accident? I tuck it close to my chest. Well, finder's keepers, right?

I accepted Annelise's invitation and visited her at her work at the mall. She used her amazing and long lunch time to show me her favorite stores, including a bookstore whose shelves reached two floors of the building, and the characteristic smell of new and never used books filled the entire environment.
