Romans & histoires Promise Me Dad

I was just so happy we had a normal conversation. ''Son, I want you to promise me something,'' he said. I looked at my father more intently and I knew what he was about to say was important. The look in his eye said a lot. ''Yes father.'' I said. ''I want you to promise me that despite anything that happens, you will love your Luna. You will hold her close.'' he said. Was this man a mind seer or what? How much did he know for him to talk about me and Slyvia that way. I was so very confused as I stared at him. I had to give him an answer or else, he would know something was up.

“What’s in it for me?” “Anything you want. Just name your price and you’ll have it, I promise.” This time I couldn’t hide the surprise. My jaw dropped an inch. I ran my tongue over my dry lips, savoring those two loaded words. I promise. “Do you remember what happened the last time you promised me something? Because I do.” I’m going to get my dad. It’ll be okay. Everything will be okay, Lilac. I promise. He stepped towards me, his hands fisted at his sides. “Lilac, I—”

"Mom always says my father is in heaven but I don't like him because mom always crys when I ask her about my papa. But You make my mom happy uncle Enzo. And I like you too. Will you be my papa forever? Please?" Pleading eyes look up at me. How can I make such a promise? How do I promise you such a thing Zeke, when I myself don't know whether your mother would still want to stay with me after the trial? What to do, what to to? I look up at Zeke and realise his lips are trembling. He blinks rapidly, his eyes watery with unshed tears. Damn. He's going to cry. Just say it already Enzo. "I promise buddy. I'll be your papa forever and I'll even be a horse if you want me to."

“You did good. Just promise me something.” My dad says and I look at him and raise an eyebrow at him. “What do you want me to promise you?” I ask him and he smiles that devilish smile at me. “You give them hell, Melody.” He says before he kisses my head. “I’m so proud to call you my daughter. You have grown into a beautiful woman. Now I’ll get you some food and a drink, then they will take you home so you can rest.” He says and I nod my head with tears in my eyes.

“I love you, Anna. But you must go. You must survive. Keep our family’s name alive.” “No! Don’t talk like this! We can fight this together. I’ll find help and...” “There’s no time,” he interrupted, his voice faltering. “You must promise me.” “Promise you what?” “Promise me you’ll live. Fight. Keep our lineage alive. Don’t let them win.” “But, Dad, please” “Promise me!” he snapped, his grip tightening for a moment before his strength waned. “I...I promise,” I whispered, choking on my sobs. “But I can’t just leave you here to die. Let me....”

Then, she wrapped hers around it. “Mommy calls it a pinky promise. And you can't break a pinky promise dad. It's a bad thing and if you break your promise,” She leaned in to whisper and I held back from breaking Into a smile as I tilted my head down to her face. “your pinky finger will disappear forever." Chuckling, I leaned back. “Really now? I didn't know.” She seemingly looked proud of herself as she vigorously nodded. “I don't want you to loose your pinky dad. So you have to let me eat ice cream.”

“Liam, listen to me, okay? Nobody gets to decide who your dad is but us. You’re my boy, and I love you. That’s what matters.” He tilted his head, his eyes big and curious. “But what if Uncle Damon wants to be my dad? He’s nice, Mommy.” I forced a smile, my chest aching. “He’s nice to you, sweetie, and that’s great. But being a dad’s a big job. It’s about always being there, not just giving you cool toys. You’ve got me forever, though. Always.” “Promise?” he asked, his voice small. “Promise,” I said, kissing his forehead. “You and me, we’re a team.”

I wonder if my mother will let me stay home for today. “Can I stay home today?” I said pleadingly. “Please?” I pouted. “Dad is here and I want to spend time with him.” My father chuckled, “I’ll see you after you finish school honey.” I pouted at my father, wishing he had stayed on my side, “You’ll still be here?” I want him to promise me. He lightly squeezed my hand to comfort me, and nodded his head, “I promise.” Feeling a bit relieved, I nodded my head, “Okay.”

“Sweetheart, some things are meant for adults to handle. Your focus should be on your studies, your goals, and enjoying your childhood. I promise that when you’re old enough to understand, I’ll share everything you need to know. Can you do that for me?” He nodded, his expression softening, and then he threw his arms around me in a warm hug. “I promise,” he whispered earnestly. “But do you promise you won’t leave us too? You’ll be there for Ella and me?” I smiled warmly and nodded. “Of course, sweetheart. I will never leave you. You both are stuck with me.” His soft chuckle brought warmth to my heart. “Thank you, Dad. Then I promise not to worry about any of this, and I won’t ask about it aga

Her tears started to fall as she shooked her head. “Promise me something, son.” I nodded, “What is it, Mom?” “Promise me that you’ll be a good son to your Dad. P-promise me you’ll be a better man always ‘til you meet the girl you love once you grow up, o-okay?” I smiled, “I promise, Mom. I love you and Dad, so I will never be a bad guy. I want to be a Dad when I grow up!” “Always remember that Mom loves you so much, okay?” she says with her soft voice. I nodded.
