Promises Unkept Novels & Stories

I had asked her the day she left. "I will make sure to return," she told me. "You have to promise me you will wait until I return" I nodded slightly, not sure if I should be making that promise. I have over eighty percent assurance that she might not return, but I made myself believe that she will try to keep her promise so I should try to keep mine too. "I will wait until you return, Alaila. But you have to promise me you won't keep me waiting" She nodded. "I promise"

She can't finish the sentence, doesn't need to, the unfinished thought hanging heavy and unbearable over all of us. "We will get him back," I say, kneeling in front of her, meaning it with every fiber of conviction I have left after a day that's already cost this pack more than I know how to fully account for. "I promise you that, Sharon. Whatever it costs." She looks up at me, red-eyed and furious in a way that has nothing to do with anger toward me specifically. "Don't promise me things you aren't sure of, Alpha.” “I've watched enough promises break in this packhouse to know better than to build hope on top of one."

Though he thought about it for some minutes before he could grant me that, " I promise okay?". " Thank's for that but please keep to it". His mind didn't really accept the the whole thing from the way he was looking at me, one minute he looks like he wants to take back his promises back and a minute later he is strong on his promises, " Please make up your mind Richard" " I promise okay? just go ahead". For the last time I took a look at him to be sure I won't be regretting what I was about to do either, then when I was convinced he could keep to his promise I said to him,

“What? You did not clarify which promise you were referring to. I have made a lot of them to you, you know.” “I meant your promise to take me to the party tonight and help me start to make some new friends.” “Oh, that one. Of all the promises to hold me to, that is the one you want me to keep? That is so boring! Can’t you at least consider my promise to f---" “Brady Hyder!” He chuckled and held out his hand. “Come on, my lady. We have a party to get you to.” .

He explained and they listened attentively. “What forbidden promise do you guys have?” Adrian asked. Amana was not able to use her promise and was not able to determine what kind of promise they have. “I have the strengthening promise and my husband has the killing promise where he can kill someone else’s promise and I can make someone else’s promise stronger.” Caselyn stated. They asked them questions and found out things that the academy is hiding. They also found out that outsiders used to be promise users but they can't remember anything about promises because of the poison that was planted inside of them by the higher ups.

“But a promise is a promise…you don’t make it if you can’t keep it. So, I will punish you…by f*cking you until you’re crying again.” |-_-| /-_-\ |-_-|

But you can never accomplish it without your “Promise Mate." The Oracle spoke gently to Theo, who kept nodding his head as if he understood what the old woman was saying

A Luna? I clenched my fists, nails digging into my dirty palms. “I’d rather rot in that dungeon than pretend to be something I’m not,” I spat The old woman’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Then you’ll rot,” she said simply. “And when the Idris returns, don’t expect mercy. You will only eat if you obey him", The reminder of Idris with his golden eyes sent a fresh wave of unease through me, but I refused to show it. I refused to let them break me.

Joshua was trying any way he could to persuade her. "It's just that money doesn't spring from gardens Joshua, understand that, of the 10 million of that contracts, there's already a little more than half of it left and I haven't even married Harry yet, if he decides to break the contract, I'll go to jail for scamming."

I couldn't stop worrying, so I refused to let her leave. Flustered, Rachel grabbed a random glass jar from the kitchen and handed it to me. "Joel, I promise I'll only go to Todd 99 times. Every time I leave, you drop a bean in this jar. When it gets to 99, you bring the jar to me, and I'll come home with you." Ever since then, that glass jar had become my most prized possession. But now, all the beans were gone. Rachel stared blankly at the empty jar, feeling just as empty on the inside.
