I clenched my teeth and started looking for some sick comeback or anything to make this less awkward. "You look stunning, I mouthed, but immediately regretted it as she gave me a very angry look. "I didn't ask for your opinion, did I?" She asked, looking really annoyed. I scratched my neck in embarrassment, choosing my next words wisely to avoid further problems. "Stay at my place tonight," I dropped. "What?" She asked like she didn't hear me. "It's just one night, clumsy," I said, thinking it would convince her. "Okay... first of all, stop calling me Clumsy, and secondly, I'm not some bitch that you can just have your way with whenever you want.”

He whispered and I immediately stopped breathing. He pulled back immediately and then looked at his screen. "The first point. Quarterly projections." I stared at him ignoring his dictation my hearts still hammering against my chest. “Quarterly projections.” He reminded me through gritted teeth and I immediately blinked out of my flustered state and then I wrote down the first point. --- At noon, my stomach was already growling and begging me for a meal and Valerian didn’t seem to like the sound because his face kept twisting each time my stomach sung.

A sudden realization struck me, and I turned to Alfie and Demi. "Which floor do you live on?" The couple immediately looked at each other with dawning recognition. "We live on the second floor, and our windows are old-fashioned. With enough force, they can be opened from the outside. Are you saying Madison actually used that demon to steal our bank card?" I nodded, quickly walking over to help them hold the mop handle in place as I continued, "If I'm right, your bank card PIN is your daughter's birthday, isn't it?"

" About you quitting your job?" " Oh yeah, I did." " Finally!!!....Halleluya!!!....Wait, when?" " A few hours ago." " Should I bring some goodies to celebrate you finally standing up for yourself, against that pig?" " I do stand up for myself." I defend myself, now frowning. " Mmm, you think you do but in actual fact, you are kind of a push over." " No I'm not!" " Skylar Grey, how long did it take for you to finally say no to that snobbish cousin of yours, Clarissa?"

She yelled, pulling the blanket closer to her body as she turned her back to me. I moved to the other side, where she could see me perfectly. “Listen, bitch, I won’t sugarcoat this anymore. I’ve tried enough, but it’s over. Everything between us is over. Tomorrow you’ll receive the papers. Put your damn signature on it so we can move on.” All I needed now was John to help me regain part of my memories quickly. Now how was I going to find a man who doesn’t want to be found?

It took two people giving equally, investing in each other, to make a relationship thrive. And no matter what, one should never allow a third person to come between the two people in a relationship. I thought life would continue in that peaceful, steady way, but then someone showed up and shattered it all. It happened on Jeffrey's birthday. I had gone out by myself to prepare a surprise for him. At the mall entrance, I ran into Ember. She was so thin her cheeks were sunken, her appearance aged by years in what felt like only months. The lively woman she once was had vanished.
