MAD END'S DECEPTION
Gildeon caught only fragments—an indigo shimmer here, displaced wind there, the hint of a silhouette between heartbeats.
Garud rolled beneath him with unnatural flexibility.
Its wounded wings spread wide, and changed.
Silver feathers hardened and lengthened into blades. Its eerie silver hair snapped loose and fanned outward with them, every strand thinning into wire-sharp metal. The creature became a spinning crown of steel and cutting edges.
Gildeon twisted away, but not fast enough.
One blade punched through the meat of his wing.
He grunted, teeth bared, and ripped himself free before the others could skewer him. He gained a single clean beat of distance, barely enough to steady himself.
