“Lady Josephina, we are going to spend the day in the gardens. Would you like for me to weave flowers in your hair like the rest of us and join the garden party?” she asked. “That would be lovely.” Josephina smiled. The ladies and the Queen looked at Rosalina questioningly, the Queen for reasons the other ladies did not understand. She simply smiled at them and said, “We will meet you all in the gardens.” The Queen nodded as did the king. The party left and Josephina picked out flowers from what had been left.

A huge garden, planted with various flowers and fruit bearing trees could be seen on the right side while on the left side is a pavilion standing on the centre of a man-made lake.

Then, the hedges come into view, and they are also immaculate. “You should see the garden in the back of the castle. There’s a labyrinth, several fountains, and all kinds of beautiful flowers, especially roses. The queen loves—loved—roses.” He clears his throat, and I can’t tell if it’s sorrow at having mentioned the late queen that makes him do so or something else. “I’d love to see that,” I tell him as we pull up in front of a huge building made of the same white marble that the gate supports were made from.

The faces of several women were carved in the stone, and it was clear by the outline of large sliding drawers that these were their tombs. "This is your mother's final resting place," Cerina said to Rosalie. "All of the queens are buried here. The first queen is buried in the earth below the temple, and her power filters up through the ground, collecting the strength from the others, and protecting our lands."
