It was about a system and the people inside it and the specific difficulty of choosing accountability when it cost you something. The long-form conversation at eleven was better — a journalist who had read the full book and asked questions that showed it. They talked for ninety minutes. She said things she hadn't planned to say and found they were true. By afternoon the book was in the world properly. Not just available — being read. Messages arriving from people who had bought it that morning and were already in the middle of it. A librarian in the north who had ordered thirty copies for her branch. A secondary school teacher who was planning a unit around the consent architecture chapter.

I hated that my body reacted before my brain could catch up. So I did the only thing I could think of. I dropped my gaze to the book between us-anything to break the pull of him. That was the real problem. Not the breaking in. Not the roses. Not even the chocolate that kept disappearing like evidence of a crime I couldn't prove. It was the questions. Too many questions. Questions I'd carried for six years without answers. Questions that had only multiplied since that night in New Jersey. The club. How I got kidnapped.

Hi guys👋 I know most of you didn’t expect the book to end this way, most of you wanted Jacob to be back but sadly it didn’t happen. However the last chapter ended with a cliffhanger so there may or may not be a “book two” it all depends on what the platform wants. I hope they accept “book 2” because I have so many uncovered secrets to tell and of course, I have a character that I will love to bring back.

Becky hated saying this, but honesty was best here in its most brutal. Grace went to say something and stopped. She clued in. John was making calls. “Right now, remember the rules of fight club.” Jane Ann told her with an amused, evil grin. “You can’t be serious. I have questions.” Grace got the reference, but not that it was a joke. Becky sighed. It already exhausted her today. “We all have questions, but it’s needed to know. Think about it. Are your questions more important than someone’s life?” Jane Ann showed Grace how questions could be far worse than letting it go.
