The summer heat hung heavy in the small town barbershop as Jake pushed open the door. Sweat already stuck his shirt to his back from the walk over, but the second he stepped inside, cool air and the sharp smell of aftershave hit him. He had come for a simple trim. That was all. But the man behind the chair turned around and everything changed.

“Trina, meet me in my room in twenty minutes. I need you to give me a wax. And I mean everywhere. I want my body as hairless as Mrs. Fulk’s head.” Trina laughed. “You got it.” Jodi looked at the pained expression on Jackie’s face. “Don’t worry, Jackie. I got this under control.” She left the bar as quickly as she came in it. Jackie let out a sigh. If Jodi was going to start a fire, Jackie may as well find out all the information she could. “Trina, will you please hand me my purse and keys from behind the bar.” “Where are you going?” Trina asked.

I shook my head at his comment. After helping him rest in the courtyard for a bit, I left the campsite. "So, David, did you enjoy last night?" Aaron teased as he sat in the car. I laughed while driving, "It was alright. That Quincy asked me to sign up a membership card." "You didn't actually do it, did you?" Aaron looked alarmed. "Of course not, where would I get that kind of money?" I scoffed. "But I have to say, after I refused, Quincy’s service attitude changed completely. Woke up this morning and she was gone."

I hand him the picture, and he puts it away. "Do you ever miss being a bachelor?" I pop a beer nut in my mouth so I'll be chewing and won't be tempted to ask dumb questions again. I'm sure he knows where the conversation is leading. Everyone seems to know Quincy has disappeared recently. Thankfully, he has the tact to ignore my embarrassment. He snaps up a handful of beer nuts and eats them while he contemplates his answer. When the nuts are half gone, he finally speaks. "I don't miss it at all."

When three of them left the bar, Jessica found herself in a dilemma again. "I'll take you back!" Marcus and Quincy said simultaneously, their eyes meeting and both focused on Jessica. Marcus's coldness and Quincy's warmth both expressed unwavering determination. Compared to Quincy's smoothness inside the bar, he appeared much more relaxed now, calmly saying, "Mr. Marcus, there's no need for you to trouble yourself with such a trivial matter. What do you say, Jessica?"

Hughes chuckled and said, "You must deliver some pretty intricate haircuts." Carey shook his head, "Actually, I'm pretty old-school. The typical haircut at my shop has the customer in and out of the chair within fifteen to twenty minutes. I don't do shampoos or any of those elaborate styles because I typically have too many other customers waiting for a simple haircut. Beard trimming and razor shaves around the ears and neck are about the only options that I offer customers." Hughes stroked his chin in a melodramatic questioning gesture that had Aphrodite rolling her eyes. He asked, "Then what would motivate a customer such as Mr. Justice to hang around your barber shop for hours?"

Twenty Seven: The King’s Bathroom EIRA “I have a confession,” Quentin says as soon as we reach his room. I spin on my heels, a deep frown on my face. “What is it?” “Come on, sit!” He pulls out a chair, and I do. Quentin takes his time to bring out the materials he needs for my hair. Finally, he stands behind the chair with gloved hands. “Any moment now would be nice, Quentin,” I say dryly, exhaling loudly. His lips twitch from the mirror.

*The Next Day* The buzzing sound of my alarm clock woke me up. It is a brand new day for another grind to work. I got up out of bed and get ready to work at Ross. As I walk down the block, I noticed a familiar face, It was Jane. Must be on her way to work. I continue to walk down to Ross’ Mechanic Shop and then it hit me. I remembered that I was supposed to help Jane with the case about these stupid bloody barbies. I went inside the shop when Ross greets me with his usual morning business talk. “Hey there! Ready to make some of that money?” Ross greeted

I'll see you when I get done. I spend the next several minutes scrolling through sports scores and seeing if there's anything major I missed while we were gone and make a mental note to remind Steve that the Cowboys are coming to town in a couple weeks. Before I know it, Quincy's ready for me again, has me shampooed, and is leading me back at her station. "How'd it go with the bangs?" She shoots me a glare as she picks up her scissors. "I told her to stand in the back row for all the pictures."
