I Want Her Bare, Always
I responded , “And the ones who last are the ones who don’t let emotion pull the trigger.”
I was walking on thin ice with that sentence.
He released my throat abruptly.
I stumbled back, coughing, dragging air into my lungs. My neck burned where his fingers touched.
Charles straightened , smoothened his jacket, already composed again. Untouched. Unbothered.
“You’re alive,” he said, “So learn the lesson.”
“And what lesson is that?” I asked hoarsely.
“That the devil doesn’t need reasons,” he replied, “Only reminders.”
