“It was walking funny and its leg is broken.” Eician reached out to gently stroke his fingers along the soft brown fur of the rabbit. It was tiny, even for a rabbit, and barely filled the lanky teen’s arms. Skye walked up beside them after delegating the tea pouring duties to Dahlia, his hand taking on the familiar silver glow of the Healing Sight. Eician followed suit although he didn’t have the same ability that Skye had. For him, the view of the rabbit’s body was blurry and hard to make sense of, but the damaged leg was easy to spot once he focused.

I crossed my arms, not expecting a response. At the sound of my voice, one of the rabbits scooted backward while the other sniffed me. "I won't bite," I said, holding out my hand. Twinkling lights appeared suddenly around them. Just a few at first, but quickly more and more surrounded them until the light was so bright, I looked away. When I turned back, the twin bunnies were gone and, in their place, sat a girlish creature. Pointed ears poked through hair the color of chestnuts.

I wished that he would always be like this. I kept moving my fingers through his hair, loving the way his hair felt between my fingers. I was lost in my thoughts, just staring at him when I felt something move against my palm. Raphael eyes snapped open and a frown immediately took over his relaxed face. My movements come to a halt when it snaps its neck in my direction, its black, beady eyes pinning me to the spot. It was so cute, there was no way I could kill this thing. One second, it was standing right in front of me, and the next, the snapping of its neck filled my ears. Its head hung lifelessly from the snout of a wolf. Kiara. She broke the contact between us and ran towards what I am assuming to be her basket with her newfound kill.

Obviously, her human ears had the same function as humans, while her beast-kin ears receive higher sound frequencies which humans' ears couldn't. Magical beasts had their unique vocal, howling, roaring, chirping, singing, et cetera. However, this is only limited to the same species— but for Ruby, she could receive and speak at almost any frequencies she wants, but only limited to mammal type magical beast.

I hold my aching side, bracing myself to keep going, run it off, when I notice two things at once. A few feet away, under the tall oak where Mari had been perched, there’s a white rabbit, upright on her haunches, staring at me, frozen in place. And my wolf isn’t fighting me for our skin. Rabbits didn’t make a loud banshee screech that could burst someones eardrums. What was it going to do next? Morph into a monster? My eyes managed to peel open, still watery and blurry, and I searched around for Raphael.
