Thousands of tiny crystals clung to the rock overhead, catching the faint glow of unseen magic and scattering it across the cavern in soft iridescent light. It looked like a piece of heaven had fallen into the earth. At the center of the cavern lay a pool of water so still it reflected the crystals above perfectly—an endless galaxy mirrored in dark glass. A narrow stream slipped through the rock wall nearby, feeding the lagoon in a quiet ribbon of sound. The water shimmered faintly with blue and silver hues as it moved, like liquid starlight flowing over stone. Kaelani stopped at the edge of the cavern. She froze mid-breath.

The entire waterfall shimmered, and then, with a sound like a thousand wind chimes, it collapsed. But it didn't vanish. It dissolved into a cloud of millions of tiny, golden, glowing motes. They looked like fireflies made of pure sunlight. The cloud swirled in the air, dancing and spinning, filled with a joyful, tinkling music. It was the same light, but it was free. It was no longer a waterfall; it was a dance.

It was stunning, the water was transparent emerald green, and the trees in the distance made this place feel magical. I was speechless, to say the least. I glance over at Declan, and he's staring straight ahead to where I was staring just seconds ago. Then I decide to break the silence. "It's beautiful," I mumble. Declan smiles at my response. "I'm glad you like it." He opens the car door and gets out, and I do the same. Declan starts walking over to the rocks, and I follow. When we reach the rocks, I look around. The view is much prettier closeup. The water flows slowly through the stones, and the sun hits the water just right, making it look like crystals.

In the distance, I see the falls, and I can’t believe what I am looking at. I can’t help but stand and run over to the railing. Braxton follows, draping the blanket around my shoulders before he wraps his arms around me. The water falls from several streams, cascading off of the rocks above us and creating rainbows of color and light all around. The foam at the bottom resembles the clouds. The closer we get, the more magical it all seems. I can hardly take my eyes off of the wondrous sight.

When Rose swung her hand, dozens of those sparkling stones flew out like shooting stars and rained down quickly on the ground. They hit the ground in a loud explosion, creating a huge gaping hole. “Rose!” I shouted in panic. One of the stars almost hit the unconscious Gloria. I ran into Rose's line of sight, waving both hands hoping she'd see me. “I'm okay, baby, I'm here!”

Max and I followed her and saw there were no lights in the room, and there was only only a bed inside. I jumped back as another round of explosions sounded. Clutching at my chest, I felt an intense throbbing. A bright light illuminated the cavern, making me blink furiously. My eyes watered from the glare, and I shut them again.
