Upon opening the glass door, a whisper of moisture suddenly permeated the restaurant. It was currently raining outside, draping the world in a soft, ethereal mist. Through the floor-to-ceiling window, one could see the raindrops clinging to the newly sprouted banana leaves, slipping down one by one like a lover's tears. In those droplets, the reflections of three people wavered gently. Eleanor's slight movement caught the attention of Dexter and Maisie, the only patrons in the restaurant.

Rain thought that might be it--the River Red--but she didn’t waste what was left of her breath to ask Mist. “Come on, Rain,” Adam said, pausing for her at the bottom of the hill. Picking up her pace, she let her momentum carry her down the hill. Through the trees before her, she could see a meandering stream of what appeared to be freshwater. They were almost there. Even if she ended up getting coated in mud again, the idea of rinsing herself clean from the rain was enticing, so Rain ran even faster, the prospect of washing away the dirt weighing her down as inviting as the soft scent of freedom teasing her from the distant shore.

The raindrops started to slowly fall and she had no intention of taking a step inside of the house, instead she put the glass that she is holding on the table then she closed her eyes. The raindrops cascading from the sky makes a distinct sound as it touches the ground. Every drop is kissing her skin; it is cold, and somehow feels like it is mending her soul.

Time seemed to disappear when I was absorbed in a book. As the rain continued to fall outside, tapping steadily against the windows, its rhythm became a soothing backdrop to my reading. The library was lit by ancient chandeliers and lamps that cast a soft, comforting glow. The scent of old books blended perfectly with the fresh smell of rain, creating an atmosphere that felt both familiar and wonderfully new.

“I want to pee.” Mom nodded. “Go ahead.” “Wait…” Mom stopped me in my track. “What’s that dampness on your skirt?” She asked, her eyes raking over me, suspiciously. Oh, no. Did Mommy find out. I gripped the edge of my skirt tightly. “I…wa—ter, Uhmm Da—da—ddy knows why,” I stuttered, turning to Daddy, blinking my eyes rapidly. “Ah, yes. She accidentally spilled water on herself. Through the gaps in the roof, rain poured down in sheets, soaking everything Cassian had touched, everything he'd kept, everything that proved he'd existed here at all. I moved without thinking. RPOV—One Month Later A raindrop landed on my window. I pressed my finger to the glass that separated us, tracing its path as it clumsily slithered down. It collided with other raindrops along the way; however, that only drew it closer to its fall. Before I realized it, my finger ran out of glass to glide on, and the raindrop vanished, now replaced by its brethren that fell from the depressing sky. "Wouldn't it be wonderful, if we could disappear and be forgotten as easily as raindrops?"

I planted a kiss on each of their foreheads before getting up. Glancing through the transparent window, I started to appreciate the beauty of the droplets from the sudden downpour of rain through the sparkling glass. Noticing a familiar book on the bedside, I hesitantly picked it up and walked towards the balcony. The cold gush of midnight wind welcomed me in glory. The heavy rain surrenders herself unto the ocean, each fragment rippling gracefully and slowly becoming a part of the body of brine sea-lace.
