“I was born to this pack. My mother was the Alpha before me. She died protecting us.” Ragnar’s hand stilled, resting on her hip. “I was fifteen,” Raven continued. “I took the Alpha title at sixteen. I didn’t have a choice.” Ragnar’s lips brushed her forehead. “You never had a chance to be a kid.” Raven huffed a soft laugh. “No.” They were quiet for a while, the steady rhythm of their breathing the only sound. “Do you ever wish it was different?” Ragnar asked softly. Raven opened her eyes, staring at the ceiling. “Sometimes.”

I follow wordlessly as Hannah checks on Sienna. Raven is short, but her deadly demeanor makes her 3 inches taller. She has the body of a warrior, broad shoulders, hips, round ass, and legs that have climbed many mountain tops in her days working with air force’s extraction team. Too bad she preferred the company of a woman. Her light green eyes are small, but get smaller when she’s worried, and the lines around her eyes are the only giveaway that she is in her late 30s. “River just called. Apparently Natasha is the one with the problem, not Sienna.”

The room filled again with light chatter and warmth. Kael slipped his arm around Ellyn’s waist and whispered something in her ear that made her blush even deeper. She tried to hide her face, but Ravena caught sight of it and teased her gently. “Oh, look at her — already shy of her mate’s words,” Ravena said with a laugh. “Kael, don’t torment the poor girl.” Kael grinned. “I wouldn’t dare, Mother. I’m just admiring the goddess’s taste.”

"I apologize, but there's been a development and my attention is needed elsewhere. Please, feel free to stay for as long as you like. I'll call a meeting later tonight when I have more information to share." They all started filing out, one by one, each giving me a smile or nodding as they walked past. "Hello." A woman with coal black hair stood before me. She was so light on her feet that she practically glided across the floor. Although she carried herself with the grace of an older woman, she didn't look a day over twenty-five or twenty-seven. "My name is Raven. I'm visiting from New York." I gave her a small smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kalyssa."

I hurry up and say before he starts to get upset. Eric stares at the necklace around my neck and asks sounding very jealous, “What is this?” Turning to him, Ryder hugs him hard before releasing him and replying, “It is my birthday gift. Raven’s birthday is tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait for her to see it. I had it made special because this is her 21st birthday after all. It only comes around once.”

She was excited, I was happy for her. "That's really cool." Raven said. She was also padding down the legs of her table with her cloth, doing it far more gently than I or Mavis were. Raven was sixteen and attending high-school in the packland. But for college she'd have to leave the packland to attend a day college in a city or town nearby, or have to move away for a while to attend some of the further colleges. That made me think though. "So will you be moving away?" I asked Mavis. I didn't exactly look at her face in order to prevent her from seeing my expression.

I said, raising my brows. "Oh yeah . Raven Walker , right ?" She asked. "I think so ." I smiled tightly. "I'll call Mr.Christian . Please wait for a minute . " she said, bringing up the phone closer to her ear . "Mr.Christian ?" I thought to myself . Well I'm supposed to know him , right? But in the file , oh yeah he was there .
