She held on to Ivan’s scarf and shut her eyes. Through his eyes she could make out two big burly men at the table. They were on each side of Ivan. They each had half filled cups of what was probably rum. They were playing cards. She was drawn out of her reverie by the calls of what was unmistakably ravens, she looked up at the sky. They were a few of them hovering above her head.

One of their most popular videos was playing, though its volume was at the minimum. On it, Eva and Xylo were in their mecha as the two fought against a horde of incoming giant insects. Thousands of giant armored insects with scythe-like segmented legs advanced on the two with relentless fervor. Both of the Ravens’ rifles and shoulder-mounted guns blasted into the chittering swarm and punched through their thick chitinous hides. Bullets pierced through, and their mostly-liquid innards flew out behind them. And although they tore through countless insects, the damage they did hardly mattered. Or rather, all they did was slow down the tide.

But then I remembered the mascara stained tears on my face which must have given me away and I aggressively began to wipe them off even though I knew my face was only becoming more of a mess. “I asked a question and I hate repeating myself so give me an answer before I blow your brains out” he said, his voice still calm while he drilled holes through them with blazing eyes and I saw one guard swallowing in fear. With the two brothers' mighty presence, no one dared to cross me, not even the bully and pretentious Ericka. However, Ericka was seething every time we crossed paths, as though she wanted nothing but to skin me alive. As I lowered the goblet, Raven’s tense gaze lingered on me. He sensed my panic, but said nothing. Instead, he simply allowed me to gather myself before continuing as though nothing had happened. “These are the final evolved forms of my butterflies,” Raven said. “Butterfly fairies, my very first healing partners.”

The Alpha retreated in surprise, removing his claws from the sorceress, and when he stepped back, Roxy broke out of her paralysis and took Raven into her arms. “Raven!” she sobbed as she held her sister close. “I’m sorry,” Raven apologized weakly as she coughed up blood. “I was always a disobedient sister. I hope you’ll forgive me this one last time-” Her sentence trailed off and then she grew limp. Just as her heart stopped beating, Roxy let out a wail of despair. Raven was dead.

she replied. “So Raven, what do you want to discuss?” “I wanted to tell you that I was impressed with you when I heard what you told my brother. He gave me a browbeating over attacking you, and I truly wanted to tell you that I am very sorry. I've been rather bitchy this past year after experiencing tough family issues,” Raven said somberly while wringing her hands on her lap. “Do you have children,” I asked cautiously. Raven smiled and nodded, “I have two grown sons, Faelon and Faust.”

Raven ran and pounced playfully, frolicking like a pup. We should have announced our presence, mindlinked or something. But instead, Roan decided to have a little fun with his mate. He prowled around, careful to stay downwind so she wouldn’t scent him. Then when her back was turned, he launched himself at her, the two wolves tumbling over and over before coming to rest with Raven cradled gently in his paws. “Mate!” Raven purred, her human giving her the driver’s seat as well. “So beautiful!” Roan rumbled back, nuzzling his snout through her fur.

Jax rolled to his feet in one fluid motion, assault rifle trained on Venom's chest, his hazel eyes blazing with lethal fury. "Let her go," he said, his voice carrying the absolute authority of a man who had killed many times and would kill again without hesitation. "I don't think so," Venom replied, his grip on Raven tightening as he used her as a human shield. "It seems we have ourselves a standoff." The final confrontation had begun, and Raven found herself caught between the two most dangerous men she'd ever known, with nothing but her wits and the promise of Jax's love to keep her alive.
