The scent of sugar and vanilla carried through the air, mixing with the mountain breeze. Everywhere I looked, there was movement… life. The packs’ banners were already up in their designated areas, each distinct yet unified: silver for the Snow Claws, emerald for the Verdant Fang, cobalt for the Sapphire Ridge, Fire for the Thunders and so on. The stadium floor, once an arena of strength, now glowed with strings of enchanted orbs floating midair, soft light spilling like mist over the marble. “Do you remember,” Frynn murmured as he looked around, “the day we fought here? How small it felt back then?”

I end up crossing my arms. Lennox tilts his head, eyeing me up and down. "Blanca wanted me to. She didn't think I belonged in Gryffindor." Apparently, this time he got Ravenclaw. My mom freaked out, and now she's ordering him some Ravenclaw scarves to complement the Gryffindor paraphernalia she bought him years ago. I nod. "Cool." I unbutton one of the buttons on my collar, my bowtie already undone.

Of course, she is short tempered and very feisty but she also is the funniest one in our friend group; A little chatter box, more precisely. "GOOD AFTERNOON, SIR!" The students shouted on the top of their voices. "That's more like it!” Mr. Jacob clapped his hand intertwining his fingers. “So, we'll first do some warming up. I want all the leaders to come in front and lead their houses." He said pointing at Ruby house's leader. Our school had four houses; Ruby representing the colour ‘red’, Emerald representing the colour ‘green’, Amber representing the colour ‘yellow’ and Sapphire representing the colour ‘blue’. I was the head-leader of Amber house. So, as commanded I came in front and stood

"It goes by many names, but its most popular one is Ravenside. It is an academy of the four clans, for the four clans.” He gestured vaguely around us. “In the heart of a territory deeper than this." I stepped back, cautiously, just in case I needed to run . "And what exactly are these four clans?" "The Werewolves. The Vampires. The witches. And.... the dragon riders. I am the only shape shifter." My laugh came out, half hysterical. “Werewolves? Vampires? Witches? Dragon riders?” I repeated, like he had just offered me the script of a bad movie plot. “And you’re telling me this with a straight face?”

The crowd thinned little by little. Enough for breathing. Enough for hope. This time we pushed through successfully, ending up directly in front of the board. Several coloured team lists had been pinned neatly in rows. Each team had a name, a color and a long list of assigned students beneath it. I scanned quickly. Crimson Eclipse—Red. Silver Phantom—Blue. Obsidian Howl—Purple. Hollow circle—Green. And then, I saw out names under— HOLLOW CIRCLE—GREEN I stared at it more to be sure I knew our names correctly and if I was not making any mistake.

"Is that a... geographic location?" Kieran burst out laughing. "Oh my god. He's serious. He doesn't know Harry Potter. Did you grow up under a rock, dude?" "I grew up in isolation," Cale said stiffly. "Elion, help him out," Mira said, sensing the awkwardness. "Team effort." "Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff," Elion said quickly.
