Marked by the Moon
Quickly, I rushed to her side, enveloping her in a warm, protective hug.
"I'm sorry," I said in a low whisper. Suddenly, she pushed me away. "Let go of me!" she cried out, but I held her tighter, refusing to let her go.
"You promised you’d always come, but you didn't... didn't when I needed you," she sobbed, her words broken by the pain that wracked her body.
All I could say was, "I'm sorry."
"Ravi's dead because of me," she wailed, her cries growing louder and more anguished.
