Reading Fantasy Books Novels & Stories

She blatantly said. “In your world they write books about us?” I asked her. “Yep, they are all fantasy, my favorite are the romance novels.” She said and blushed a deep red. I raised my eyebrows at her confession. How does a world have books about us, but they consider us a fantasy? “Why did you drink so much? And what is a car and how did you get into an accident.” I asked her. I pointed to a large rock suggesting that she sit. I might as well let her talk and take a break. She looked frail.

It had worked for her in her previous life She switched the bedside lamp on and crept across the bedroom to the bookshelves. Clarissa’s taste in books leaned towards the fantasy genre. Clara didn’t usually read fantasy, but she was willing to read anything to distract herself right now. Clara picked a book out randomly and returned to her bed to read it. According to Clarissa’s memories, she hadn’t read this book yet.

It's all a fantasy. Fable has been my escape. An unhealthy one. A safe pretend world where I could bury myself. Just like how Zee cried after she finished the final Harry Potter book, or how Jamie bases so much of her worth on the fictional version of herself that lives across a thousand Instagram pics, in the comments and likes of a thousand strangers. Just carefully constructed lies to comfort and lull. Dreams.

Elle muttered to herself as she went in search of the books she wanted, she moved into the fantasy/paranormal section, she walked around for sometime before she came across a book that said "Aether world" She picked it up and scanned it, it talked about two realms that were once together. She quickly scanned the book once more, she saw names like halflings, faires, humans and a lot of weird things she saw in the other realm. The book said "fiction" in bold letters but she took it anyway. She made to sit down and read it there but she decided against that and walked to the librarian "I'll take this with me" she said as she placed the book on the desk.

No one was present and I had all the time choosing and deciding what I wanted. "You can buy three books, maximum" Karthik added from beside me. Only three books? Just three books out of all these eye-catching feasts before me? I wish I could buy the whole shelf because there were wide varieties of books also the books I wanted to read so badly which had been stuck on my wish list for years. I could see the Harry Potter series pocking out of the fantasy section; my all-time favorite book. But I had already read them back home so it's a waste of time. I also saw Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books to my left which excitingly was the crime and thriller section, I had almost read all of them too. I

I smiled, pointing to one with a black wolf staring out with red eyes. “I prefer none. They aren't real.” Ryan drawled. “It's why they're called Fantasy,” I rolled my eyes, “what do you read then? Only non fiction?” “Nah. I read both. But I prefer Thrillers and action. You know, martial arts and gun shooting.” He turned to me with two fingers aimed at my neck, “pew pew.” I laughed, “Right. Bad guy kills good guys family and good guy goes after bad guys and single handedly kills ‘em all.” I groaned.

Rhae slowly walked towards the bookshelf off to the side of the room and began skimming the titles. "Tales of Fae," Aynyra grinned, crossing her legs in the bed like a toddler. Rhae pulled the book off the shelf, examining the repeatedly broken spine and the clear wear and tear on the cloth-covered binding. "A children's book?" Rhae questioned peering at the title. Aynyra chuckled, "It's not a children's book, it's based on history. It's fact." Rhae walked over to the bed laughing, "It's myth Aynyra, don't tell me you believe in the Fae."

But there was no one to talk to, no footsteps, no cold voice ordering her around. She finished her food, pushed her plate away, and sighed. Now what? She didn’t want to just sit around. So she wandered the halls until she reached the library. The tall shelves greeted her like old friends, rows and rows of books stacked neatly under warm lights. She walked along them, fingers gliding lightly over the spines. The last book she had borrowed was already finished. Today, she wanted something different. Something lighter. Maybe fantasy this time. She pulled out a novel with a cover painted in gold and emerald green, dragons, magic, a girl with a sword. Perfect.

Naomi said shyly. "And do you like it?" asked Deanna, leaning forward slightly in her chair. "Yes, a little." "Naomi likes books more," Ethan finally spoke. "That's great! What do you like to read?" "Many things, but especially fantasy sagas." "Werewolf and vampire stuff," Ethan was very clear about it. "I see... Then surely you've read 'The Black Moon' saga." "It's my favorite! You know it?" Naomi and Deanna began talking about the 5 books that made up the saga, about the characters and the author. Apparently, Deanna liked that type of literature too. Both forgot where they were and with whom, and simply continued sharing opinions. Finally, Harry interrupted them.

The aroma of aged parchment filled the air as I meandered through the maze of towering bookshelves. In this sanctuary of knowledge, I hoped to find a way to divert my attention, to focus solely on my duty rather than the princess who occupied my every waking thought. Pulling a book from the shelf, I settled into a worn leather armchair, its comfort embracing me like a familiar friend. My eyes scanned the pages, absorbing the words that transported me to distant lands and unfamiliar worlds. However, even within the realms of fantasy, the allure of the princess remained, casting its spell over my weary mind.
