Something unhurried and unperformed. "He used to make terrible jokes at breakfast," Dennis said. "Every single morning. The kind that weren't funny at all but he laughed at them so completely that you ended up laughing too." He paused. "He said laughter was the only honest currency. That you could fake money and power and even love. But you couldn't fake a real laugh." I looked at him. "He sounds like someone worth fighting for," I said. "He was," Dennis said quietly. I reached across and took his hand.

safe, content, happy. A wave of laughter erupted as Brian launched into another one of his jokes, his infectious humour washing away any lingering stress. For a blissful while, the world outside ceased to exist, replaced by the joy of my shared silliness. A forgotten warmth spread through me, the simple pleasure of laughing with Brian a rediscovered treasure, thanks to the movie.

Roman, Emily, Elliot, and I shared anecdotes, teasing one another with good-natured humor that ignited fits of laughter. Roman, with his charismatic charm, had a knack for weaving tales that left us in stitches. His animated gestures and clever wordplay had the power to brighten even the gloomiest of days. Emily, by his side, added her own witty remarks, her laughter ringing like music in the air. Together, they formed a dynamic duo, effortlessly bringing smiles to our faces.

“I didn’t yeet it. It was a controlled throw.” I snorted, showing that I clearly didn’t believe him. Since I met Adam, I noticed how infectious his humor was. His witty remarks and playful banter had a way of spreading joy and laughter. The ease at which he found humor in the simplest of things often made him the life of the party. People couldn’t help but be drawn to his lightheartedness. I learned how to mask my emotions because of the experiences in my past, and I got the impression that his humor was something similar.

Asshole confirmation is complete. “I do have a unique sense of humor,” I snarl back at him. “It’s just not for rude people who think they can negatively summarize everything about a person just by looking at them.” He scoffs and silently stares at me for a moment. While I wait, thinking he is probably forming an apology for his rude, sarcastic sense of humor towards me. . . . he suddenly bursts into laughter. I recoil in shock at his response, but later on, his laughter eases me. The sound is so deep, and dimples indent both his cheeks as he continues laughing.

"He doesn't do any of that. I have warned you to mind the words you use!" I burst into laughter. "It's shocking that you haven't gotten used to Raya's sick humor by now," "She should stop making those stupid jokes. I hate it. Look at her, she makes jokes out of her condition even. Does it sound like something we should be laughing about?" Her voice cracked and she walked out on us. Raya sighed. "She gets like that all the damn time. It's annoying," "You should understand that she's only mad because she cares."

Which is about the only thing we agree on. If Chris notices this dynamic, he doesn’t show it. Instead, he joins in as the leap from topic to topic which includes the latest page three model, women in gyms, dating and top gear. For almost two hours I persevere, struggling to detect a single witty remark among this poor excuse for schoolboy humour. Yet the last thing I want is to be dismissed as having no sense of humour. I redundantly stand with a smile on my face. You’d think this would be easy, but it’s not. Unlike Chris, who has tears rolling down his face, I find his friends about as hilarious as having a root canal done without any pain relief. “Jesus, they’re so funny,” laughs Chris. He

I frowned and he noticed. “Sorry. Distasteful joke. I know,” he said, looking disappointed at himself. When he was fully up, I looked away when I noticed the very obvious bulge in his pants. I kept reminding myself that it was natural. He didn’t seem to notice it either, so it had to be. “I use humor to hide my pain,” he said with a dry chuckle. His gaze softened as he peered into my face on his way out of the room. “Are you okay, though?”

Leaning on the counter, Jessie replied, "Find him a girlfriend. He can cook and make out at the same time. Problem solved." Ronny burst out laughing so hard his stomach hurt. "Jessie, that's hilarious! I'm definitely trying that next time." Jack couldn't help but laugh too when he saw Jessie laughing. Harry's eyes narrowed with amusement. "No one does deadpan humor like Jessie. She says it with a straight face but it's pure comedy gold." "I was being serious," Jessie said with mock seriousness. Ronny laughed even harder, shaking from head to toe with the garlic still in his hand.

I’m just as busy as ever, but being lost in a happy haze of sex and orgasms really does take the edge off long days and early mornings. It helps that the guys often stop by the bakery, either to help or just to hang out. All the usual holiday stress is so far in the background that I can’t even see it most of the time. It’s the most fun I’ve had this time of year in longer than I can remember. Luke has a dry sense of humor and a knack for comedic timing that never fails to have me laughing. Two days ago when an angry woman nearly cursed me out at the bakery, he diffused the tension by cracking a joke about her coat that had me in tears of laughter instead of frustration.
