Reading University Library Novels & Stories

It was ten in the evening, the best time of reading stories since few students were around . As soon as I reached at the entrance , I swiped my badge to the 50 years old university's 24 hours Library guard and after having a look at it , I made my way inside . Since it was late in the evening , the main reading room was almost empty except for some students who were either asleep or nearly falling asleep .

My first class is still at 10 AM, but I arrived at the University at 7, and I don't plan to stay in that house that feels like hell. I looked around, there were a lot of students but they were far away from me, it looked like they were starting school early. We have a recital later so I thought I'd bring out my books and notes to review. I could also go to the University library but it's far away and it's more open from where I'm sitting because there are many trees and the air is still fresh, there aren't many people who notice me.

The late-study floor of the university library was nearly deserted. Fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting a cool glow across long wooden tables and towering shelves. Outside the tall windows the sky had already gone dark. Most students had left hours ago. Only a few scattered figures remained, heads bent over books in distant corners.

The archives were tucked in the basement of the North Wing, a labyrinth of dust and silence where the university kept the rare architectural blueprints. I had the keys because of my scholarship. I needed to upload the final 3D renders of my thesis to the main server. It was my ticket out of this gilded cage. The air in the basement was damp and smelled of old paper. As I reached the heavy oak doors of the restricted stacks, I heard it.

My quiet world became even more chaotic and miserable. And here I am again, as usual, walking down the hallway into St. Patrick Academy. When I stepped on the entrance, I heard loud laughter again and deafening whispers around. And I know why they all reacted like that. Only I and other scholars like me enter without a fancy car. I was just walking to school from my home, sometimes I ride on a jeep instead of taxi so that's how they reacted. Making me laugh, always think I am Ms. Nobody and the funniest one and the most worthless woman and embarrassing one.

, I laugh it off. Emily and I head for buying our books and writing stuff first before heading to our college. Even if we aren't in the same courses, at least we are in the same place. A lot of people don't know, the University of Oxford has thirty-nine colleges. It's crazy when you think about it.

"Quinver University," I answered without hesitation. "They have the most advanced physics laboratories in the country."
